Pupster arrives tomorrow(!)

The crate is out, has been thoroughly scrubbed. Comfy bedding washed and in place in a sturdy cardboard box.

Suitable chews and other toys acquired.

Food and water bowls scrubbed and ready.

Small bag of the food pup is used to acquired (he will also come with some). We will wean to our usual brand of food.

Vet registration sorted, second jabs booked.

Puppy collar and new lead ready for action (garden at first of course).

Fences all checked.

Stair gates out and ready to fit tomorrow morning.

Aloe Vera plant moved well out of reach, all cables stowed away safely.

Insurance quotes ongoing (will have five weeks cover from the KC).

Puppy training treats acquired, clicker has been dug out.

All dog towels washed.

Firm lectures given out about putting shoes and toys away safely… we’ll see, shall we…

Contact made with usual trainer re puppy classes.

Game bag emptied and cleaned for pre-jab explorations…!

I still need to find some old newspapers or get some puppy pads. And I need to get a collar tag. Can do that while we wait at the pet shop.

Sense of humour fully activated, expectation levels set to ‘realistic’…

What have I forgotten…?!

House pride levels dialled back to ‘negligible’ (a very small adjustment, to be fair) Grin

Spray cleaner for accidents. Tiny treats for early training. Long line for recall?

Steely determination to ignore the noise in the early hours so as not to teach pup that whining or puppy barking means a human will come and entertain them. Have to learn to settle themselves (although the first night or two best to stay near them) hard but works. I have an 11 week lab pup!

Check, check, check 👍 Haven’t got a harness yet (for the long line), but I want to take him to the shop to find one that fits properly.

That’s going to be the toughest bit…! I’m planning to sleep downstairs the first few nights, I think, so I can reassure easily. 🤞 he’ll settle fairly quickly 😬🤞
