Long lasting dog treats

My dog (large black lab) very rarely gets left alone but when he does I give him a raw marrow bone. I was advised to do this by a vet who said that the big cooked ones can splinter and injure them and that anything smaller they can choke on. DDog has hurt a tooth and I took him to the vet (different one this time) who was very disapproving of the raw bone thing and said that it could be responsible for his tooth injury.

So, going forward what can I use that will keep him entertained for an hour or so, that isn't going to make him put on loads of weight and isn't going to cause tooth / choking problems.

I once filled the kong so full of left over cooked chicken, he couldn't get any out. I've no idea how long the poor boy worked at it but he was a lab too so it'll have been a while. I felt awful but I did dig it out for him when I got home Blush

Root chew? Antler? XL Nylabone? I have 2 labs and one loves a good chew. The root has lasted ages.
The Antler was much loved but gave her the runs; she loves her bacon/chicken flavour nylabone but needs the heavy duty ones
I was given a couple of YAK chews to try but have not broken them out yet.

Our lab loves the Yak chews, long lasting and keeps her busy for a while.

Cows ears
Buffalo skins
Pizzle sticks
Stuffed cows hooves
Pigs ears (fatty, so don't give often)
Beef trachea (can be stuffed and frozen to make it last longer)
Deer legs
Braided ostrich

All things I feed my dog - he only ever gets natural treats and I never ever give him plastic chews like Nylabones or Kongs unless I'm right there to supervise.

I get yak chews for mine they last a couple of days.

Agree with all of the above BUT I would not leave a dog unsupervised with a chew.

None of those ideas last more than about 30 -60 mins here. Dog doesn’t chew anything he’s not allowed, but is a very heavy chewer once he’s given something. He loves yak chews but they last about 20 mins max

Not tried root chews though or cow hooves- so they tend to last longer?
