I'm looking for a rain coat . It's been torrential rain here today and I got absolutely soaked through when out walking the dog . Does anyone have any recommendations? I just want a light waterproof mac type coat

Thanks

Sorry islaviolent but can I jump in too. I’ve got a Rohan jacket that’s great for dog walking but I’m looking for nice waterproof trousers to wear out dog walking. Who’d have thought we’d be asking this in July!!

I would highly, highly recommend a 'Lighthouse' raincoat, bought from the Lighthouse website in Ireland.

They come in knee length or long.

I bought my knee length one last winter and it's one of the best things I've ever bought, I love it.

We've had the most awful rain on and off here, as I suspect you have too and it's almost like wearing a sou'wester because the rain just can't penetrate it no matter how heavily it pours.

I didn't buy it for dog walking (at £70 it seemed a bit too expensive for covering in muddy paws) but I soon realised that it was ideal for walking around in the rain and mud as everything just runs off it, and it's washable if that becomes necessary.

I really love mine.

Sorry that sounds a bit like a promotional ad, I promise you I have no connection to them.

Hi @Reasonistreason - Rohan do great Dry Roamers that look like normal trousers but are fully waterproof! Currently on sale :)

www.rohan.co.uk/womens-travel-and-outdoor-trousers-dry-roamers?ocode=03437595&cr=suggest

I wear my Rohan jacket and Dry Roamers out dog walking all day long (it's my job) and have never ever had a problem.

Reasonistreason · 06/07/2021 20:11

Hi @warmfluffytowels, they look nicer than the baggy waterproof trousers you usually see and in sale too! Thanks

Yes, the outrider.

The pictures make it look a bit odd tbh. It comes up quite big I found so you can get a jumper under it if necessary.

I wear it all the time, even when not dog walking because it's so practical and the weather's been so wet. Can't fault it.

spinningspaniels · 06/07/2021 20:25

I've got a couple from Seasalt. A thick winter one which is a gift from the gods on a wet day, and a raincoat. Neither leak, wash well and I've bought them during sales.

pigsDOfly · 06/07/2021 20:29

Oh yes, waterproof trousers.

I bought a pair of Higear waterproof trousers a few years ago.

I think I got them from Go Outdoors.

They are lined so really help keep me warm in the winter.

I think they were about £30 but as I say that was a few years ago.

Love those as well.

Feel invincible in the rain when I'm all covered up Grin

I just got this raincoat from Rains www.uk.rains.com/collections/jackets-women/products/long-jacket-female?variant=39390838521939
I've only had it for a couple of days so I can't say how well it's going to last, but I like the minimalist styling and so far it's done the job in terms of keeping me dry.

It's never going to be your most glamourous coat tbh but the pictures really don't do it justice.

It's got a rural look to it and as a dog walking raincoat it's brilliant.

I wear it when I'm not walking the dog quite often and I don't feel weird in it.

I really think they need to get a knew photographer though Grin

idontlikealdi · 06/07/2021 21:56

Drydikson but they're a bit too hot so following!

RandomMess · 06/07/2021 21:58

Just get a dog they refuses to go out I the rain 😆

I have a lazy jacks long rain coat. Fortunately my dog will not go out for a walk in the rain but living in Lancashire it's still necessary to have a decent raincoat!

No worries! They come in different leg lengths too which is a lifesaver for me 🤣 normally they're too short and I end up with wet ankles 🙈
WisestIsShe · 07/07/2021 12:33

I had a lighthouse outrider and tbh it did make me look a bit like a dalek. However it kept me completely dry so I didn't care!

pigsDOfly · 07/07/2021 13:05

WiseslsShe

Exactly how I feel about mine.

Not the most flattering coat but it will definitely keep you nice and dry.
