Our beloved mini poodle is 15 months old and we got him from a truly lovely breeder, she's amazing. He is everything we have ever wished for and is the absolute love of our lives! We had agreed to getting another from the breeder in her next litter.

However yesterday she had someone let her down for a 8 week old puppy... so we've taken her! We're just about to leave to go and get her and I could puke with excitement/anxiety!

It's going to be easier this time round as I'm not working at the moment. I remember the baby days as an exhausting blur trying to look after a pup and WFH so feeling more optimistic this time. I'm not looking forward to broken sleep again though!

Eeeeeeeep I'm so excited!

@LarsErickssong I’m sure it’s because so many people imagine they have to have the 80’s bouffant coat, but no one cuts their poodle like that anymore! They’re awesome with their teddy bear coats. I used to look after two, (I was a dog nanny in Knightsbridge!) people used to say ‘are you sure?’ when I told them they were just poodles and not crosses. Amazing dogs.

SimonJT · 04/07/2021 10:00

Oh they’re lovely, as much as I’m jealous the thought of getting an eight week old version of mine (Shiba Inu) fills me with terror!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/07/2021 10:13

@SmidgenofaPigeon

New pup looks like Hoggle from Labyrinth in that pic 😂😂😂😂 but cuter.
We have a puppy called Ludo.....
BaconAndAvocado · 04/07/2021 10:38

Sooooo cute!!!
Sorry but I've missed this bit upthread - what have you called your new pup??

BaileyMiranda · 04/07/2021 10:49

This is OlderBailey… teddy bear cut! People are always surprised when I say he’s a poodle, they always think he’s a cockapoo.

Lovely, but I think you are nuts
I shudder at the puppy days and the teenage months
And I totally agree about Poodles, no need for doodle this and poo that

SmidgenofaPigeon · 04/07/2021 11:04

@BaileyMiranda yep, best job ever! I went for an interview for a nanny/PA job for ‘two one year-old live-wire twins’ in this plush apartment and was introduced to…two beautiful poodles! I was their nanny for three years (with PA duties too, but we all knew what my official job was Wink)

OldTinHat · 04/07/2021 11:24

Awwww look at those eyebrows!! 🥰

BaileyMiranda · 04/07/2021 11:25

OlderBailey is such a dream though apart from the barking. So I’m hoping optimistically we will be ok!

@SmidgenofaPigeon wow 🤩

Poodles are so underrated! They’re the most loyal loving dogs! It drives me bonkers when people say they want the traits of a poodle, but in a different dog, why don’t they just bloody well get a poodle.

I'm perhaps a bit ignorant, we haven't got a DDog yet as I'm still trying to persuade DH or more like trying to persuade DH to leave so that I can have a DDog instead but I honestly didn't know that poodles could be so cute! There is a chocolate standard near to us though who is a stunner, so I perhaps should have realised...Smile

MissShapesMissStakes · 04/07/2021 13:11

Poodles are totally the best dogs ever.

Your two are gorgeous.

I think they look so much better in a more natural cut. There is an amazing black mini poodle near us though that is always full poodle cut and often a bow and she looks incredible.

We just keep ours short all over.

The amount of people who think I don't know my own dog's breed is crazy.

@BunnyRuddington

Based on the photo - if you don't name her Paddington, you're a terrible person and should rehome her forthwith to someone who WILL name her Paddington.

And would that be you by any chance? Smile

An excellent idea Grin You may drop her off tonight, OP. And it most certainly is NOT too late for Paddington.

I know one (standard) and he's just the most cheerful, laid back boy. I have a question - do they all walk as though they're cartoon dogs, or is it just him?

QueenBee52 · 04/07/2021 13:28

omg I love this Thread 🎉

beautiful breed 💕🌸

Scoobydoobydoo · 04/07/2021 13:44

Shamlessly placemarking to drool at poodle pictures!

Darklane · 04/07/2021 19:20

They are gorgeous, all of them.
Like others have said, I really don’t understand this craze for Oodles of Noodles crosses when the true breed is such a lovely one both in looks. & temperament. But I’m always one banging on about true breeds, especially our native At Risk ones, one of which is what I’ve had, shown & bred for decades.

Ninkanink · 04/07/2021 19:28

If I ever do get to have a dog it will most definitely be a poodle.

Glenthebattleostrich · 04/07/2021 19:33

I can clearly see how unhappy your doggies are. Im afraid that you must surrender them to be cared for properly. As luck would have it I can take them off your hands!

They are bootiful fluffies

CarrieMoonbeams · 04/07/2021 19:37

Nah, she's awful OP. I'll take her off your hands, just as a favour, like, ya know?!

Another successful night. We got her a crate and put it next to our bed and she slept in it without any fuss. So different from OlderBailey who screamed like he was dying in the crate for 3 days before we gave up and packed it away! She woke at 430 for a wee then went straight back to sleep. What a dream!

I have an 11 month old mini and he quite often gets mistaken for a cockerpoo. He is the most delightful dog I have ever met. He looked very like your puppy when we got him OP but has turned slightly more bred around the face as he's grown.
