New puppy food questions

New dog owner here!! So Barnaby joined us on Saturday... he is 12 weeks and bloody brilliant.

He's been fed on a raw meat diet previous to us getting him and we have continued this at home.. but with pellets that have added rice and veg.

He has been fed twice a day, and we are feeding like this also, however I would like to get him some chew treats and treats for training.

Looking online there is loads of choice but I'd prefer some recommendations please!

Whilst I'm asking questions does anyone get raw food delivered weekly and could recommend a company?

Thank you

Nutriment or natural instinct offer good raw food they also do natural chews. You may find it expensive to order each week though.

Depending on your location there will obviously be other supplies

It is usual to feed 4 times a day at 12 weeks. Is there a reason you are only feeding twice a day?

Better raw food does not contain rice.

@PollyRoulson thank you! Re feeding twice - This is what the breeder told us to do and told us she was doing?! I thought twice a day seemed a bit unusual but she advised thats what the litter was having. He's the correct weight according to the vets but I will up it and break in to 4.

I'm just nervous about giving him the wrong chews.. I read a horror story once regarding chews and it's stuck in my mind. It's like having a newborn all over again and the worries that go with that!

If the puppy is having a lot of training and food allowance is used for that throughout the day then 2 meals may work but it is a bit unusual. 3 times a day may be fine though.

It is best to speak to the suppliers of the natural chews. It depends so much on the dog . Do not give raw hide. Nutriments has natural treats for puppies that are appropriate.

Do not leave your puppy unattended with a chew and watch how they chew them. Usually raw feed puppies are not gulpers and happy to chew things well but there are always exceptions!

He is stunning Smile

@PollyRoulson thank you again! I will have a good look at suppliers of natural chews and make enquires tomorrow.

Hi. We have Bella and Duke delivered - you just need freezer space. Easy peasy and she eats everything. They have a great facebook page and also access to on line vet.
