Strange behaviour at weekend

We went to a local beauty spot with a waterfall (with a deep pool for jumping in ) at weekend. My 12 month old pup went nuts. Barking, lunging at his lead and so did a few others. It's a Hugh adrenaline place where people jump off rocks into the pool and I was nervous even watching but the dog's reaction was so strange. I thought it was because it was busy so walked him away down the path but I saw another dog the same and he slipped his harness. Could it be the atmosphere? Was so so odd. I'd not walked him there before.

He could have been worried about the people and hyped up by the atmosphere. My ddog can't cope with the kids going in the sea, he barks and barks and barks and physically ties to block them. He is scared of the sea so I dont think he wants them to go in either.

I think he maybe picked up on my fear watching them. It was really most odd

My dog gets worried when people/dogs are splashing in water - she yelps, and pulls at her harness trying to get in (even though she hates the water). She thinks they are in trouble and wants to help.

We had 2 dogs and a pool when we lived abroad. One used to love swimming in the pool but the other hated water and used to run round the pool barking and yelping all the time we were in it. I think it was part excitement and part anxiety.

My first dog went nuts the first time saw me in the bath, barking at me in an anxious way. I think he thought the bath had eaten me as he could only see my head. Forever after when I had a bath, he had to come in and put his head over the bath to check the rest of me was still there.

I think they don't all understand the optical effect of water!

My usually calm dog did this at a bridge over a waterfall walk

He is well used to waterfalls and bridges as we walk a lot. But this time he was utterly spooked and simply wouldn’t cross. Wouldn’t budge. He is too big to carry so we went another way!

There was a sign in the undergrowth I had missed dedicated to a dog that had slipped and died. I’m convinced the dog saw a doggie ghost!

Did he clam down when you went further away from the area ?
