Hi all. I started a thread last year that detailed my dog's lymphoma cancer diagnosis. He was put to sleep in March this year after a short-lived remission from chemo. I was broken and swore I would never open my home or great to another dog again.
But then I saw this cute little face and three months since Teddy's passing, I now have a puppy scampering about the house again. He's a Dachshund Pekingese cross, with a lovely colouring and temperament.
The day I brought him home I had a really good cry because I felt so guilty that my old dog, Teddy, wasn't here and this new pup was.
The new pup is mouthing, as expected of a puppy, but he's really relaxed and happy to sit with me. I've missed those little wet kisses
I really just wanted to share my news with you all as this forum was a really good source of support at a really difficult time when I had to make decisions about Teddy's health.
Oh and because it would be rude not to... Here's a photo of Rusty, the new puppy.
On a side note, I really wanted to adopt a dog this time round but I was really struggling to find a place that would accept me as I have a 1.5 year old child at home. Is this usual practice for adoption?
