Spaying an older dog - what to expect?

Hi all - we adopted a 5-year old lurcher a few months ago. Because of lockdown, the resuce's vets wasn't doing non-emergency operations while she was with them, but are now taking bookings. So she's going to be spayed soon.

Any tips on what to expect?

Both in the short term - how long will it take her to recover? How long with no walks?

And the longer term - is she likely to undergo any personality changes, or is that less likely given her age?

TIA!

I had a 10 yr old foster dog who had to be spayed. I had to stop her from doing zoomies the night she came home!
I think like any op they can be a bit sore when the initial pain meds start to wear off otherwise should be absolutely fine.

I had a old girl spayed for medical reasons, she was ten. She slept quite a lot for the first couple of days but was fine. Her personality didn’t change at all but her long coat thickened up quite a lot afterwards.
