Plug in dog calmers

Anyone used these before?

I'm looking on Amazon and Adaptil seems popular. I'm going back to work this week and one of my dogs howls each time I leave the house. I'd like to get him a bit more relaxed if possible.

Any advice welcome.

It won't solve your problem. It can help (although evidence is mixed at best) as part of a concerted training effort to fix separation anxiety. It won't work if you just plug it in and bugger off from 9-5.

This.

You're going to need to find a setting that can have your dog for all or most of the day (daycare), contact a behaviourist (APBC or CCAB qualified) and then embark on the training plan they set out for you.

Separation anxiety is a bugger to fix, and while Adaptil won't hurt, it's about 2% of the overall solution.

Ok thanks. Its weird becos we have two dogs and she's fine is my male that has the separation anxiety. I've been popping out each day for longer periods of time but he still howls

Has he got something to occupy him? Frozen Kong, yak milk chew, antler? Radio on? Start small - leave the room (when he has something to do, like the above) for one minute and return with zero fuss. Pay him no attention on your return. Extend to two, five, ten minutes etc slowly.

No I've never heard of a yak milk chew! He's never been fussed on the kong he gets bored quite quickly with it.

I will definitely try the yak milk chew as he loves cheese. Thank you
