Rescue dog, insurance advice please!

Hi all, after very careful consideration we're now in a position to offer a home to a rescue dog. We've met a dog that seems like a good fit for our lifestyles and it seems like we could give her the home she needs.
We just had a call with the vet and I'm a bit confused about where we stand in terms of pet insurance which I am hoping you could help me with.

  1. the dog had a mass on her vulva when we she left at the rescue. She was spade and the mass has reduced in size (& they hope it will continue to do so). The vet did a needle biopsy and it was benign.
  2. After that operation (performed at another vets, not by the rehoming vets) the vet detected a heart mumur. Since then 2 vets at the rehoming centre have checked and they can't hear a mumur so they're suggesting it might have been picked up previously when the dog was in pain/stress after the operation.

I was hoping you would help me understand where we stand with insurance on these two items. Would they be considered preexisting if the dog needed heart medication or if the lump needed further attention?

Thanks in advance.

I think they would. Yes. They were previously diagnosed.

When I adopted my rescue I got 4 weeks free insurance which I had the option to carry on myself. Does the rescue not have this. My dog had only food intolerance issues which I was covered for.
