Yes me and her again.
So yesterday all excited my first evening out since December 2019.
Took dog on a quick run. She cut her leg open on barbed wire. I'm £187 lighter. Sedation, buzz cut, wash out, 4 stitches and antibiotics/painkillers.
The look of disgust she gave me when I went to collect her from the vets.
She's ok and back to bouncing about this morning. But Christ all mighty.
Just need 1 more injury this year for the hat trick . Attached pic is how she stared at me. 🙄

She’s worth every penny 🥰

Didn't bleed so didn't notice till half way home 🙄
I can only think yet again those pesky squirrels.

@HerMammy

She’s worth every penny 🥰
She is . She's ignoring the ball patch on her leg and licking the ball patch on her front leg where she had her drip.

One of mine got caught on barb wire, same trotted home, saw blood on the floor, cut to the bone full length of front leg. Lots of stitches, plaster cast to keep leg rigid; which she got off without breaking!!!!
Very expensive 😬

drinkingwineoutofamug · 26/05/2021 12:33

Ouch @HerMammy that reads painful and costly.
Gentle lead walk and she's flat out.

My dog eats things that make her ill when out on walks and I've spent a fortune in vet's fees.

The last time was actually from something in the garden.

It started when I was woken in the night by her barking to go out.

She'd been sick in her bed and on the floor, very unusual for her as she generally manages to call me to let her out before she vomits, got outside and vomited again.

I picked up the vomit and in amongst the remains of her dinner was a big fat caterpillar type thing that she's swallowed whole.

I think it was a grub of a leather jacket or daddy long legs or similar.

Fortunately, it didn't actually make her really ill, apart from all the vomiting but she was very under the weather the next day.

Stupid animal.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 26/05/2021 15:04

Oh @pigsDOfly their rank.
She's broken a tooth
Sprained a leg climbing a tree
Bitten ear was 2 weeks ago
Eaten dead baby bird, vomited back up. And ate it again.
Cut pads on glass
Attacked by a cat

She's all woof and no bit herself

@drinkingwineoutofamug

Omg you must live at the vet, and I thought mine was a nightmare.

Bloody good job we love them Grin

drinkingwineoutofamug · 26/05/2021 15:43

First name terms . Luckily she's ok in the vets once dragged in 🙄

Poor doggy, imagine having to deliberately cut yourself on barbed wire just to stop your mum going out for the evening!Grin

They are a nightmare arent they.

somethinginthewater · 26/05/2021 18:47

Barbed wire nightmares.
Mine gave himself a 4 inch gash on his side that we didn't find until 9 o'clock at night. Emergency vets, kept in overnight. Three days later the wound broke down- GA, stitches, drains et al
Yes that was expensive and no we don't have insurance.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 27/05/2021 10:08

Had to phone the vets. Nothing bad except she's going mad with lead walks only. I've upped the amount and length.
Back Friday for wound check, which is healing beautiful
Stitches out next Friday
Hopefully they will say Friday she can be off lead on on long lead for a sniff
If on long training lead she can't run 🤷🏻‍♀️
Ideas???
She's not into brain training anymore, gets bored.
She's jumping round the back garden trying to climb trees and catch pigeons.
Totally stuck but for her own good

Sorry no ideas to help I'm afraid. Hopefully, she'll be allowed a bit more freedom once you've seen the vet.

Sounds like you need to sit her down and have a strong talk to her about her crazy ways Grin

She's gorgeous and sounds like a real character.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 27/05/2021 10:43

She is beautiful.

Even garden is an issue. Since day 1 , I have never got her out of this habit.
Think it's the Belgian mali in her.
When I let her out for the toilet , she runs and jumps - with a woof - at all 4 corners of the garden. Like this is my territory back off!
Really difficult when she's soooo high energy and I think she's definitely missing her 3 hour run and sniff 🙄
