Are there too many Milos?

We are getting a puppy in a couple of months.

I really like the name Milo but a friend said it is very popular. Are 6 dogs going to come running if I call it in the park?

Other options are Bruno, Nico, Gino or Dusty.

Actually I have a list of about 30 but those are the front runners.

Oh I don't actually know any Milo's in our park, I think it's a great name!

PollyRoulson · 25/05/2021 11:21

I am running puppy classes and have 6 Milos, also 3 Daves, and loads of Barneys. (There have been loads of Barneys for years Smile

I love Milo. I know of a few but don't actually know any. I knew a couple of Brunos, both of which were rather dull and smelly! My favourite in your list though is Dusty. It seems to have a bit of a retro vibe.

But if you haven't had met your puppy yet it could all be moot and you might find something else that suits him better. I had decided the name of my next pup before my old dog died. We visited the litter and chose the pup but the name just didn't suit so we had a rethink.

@PollyRoulson That was my fear!

I hear it quite a lot in my locality... Milo, Riley, Luna, Ella and Lola are popular here. (They sound like names you'd find in the local primary school too!)

I like Ludo, Jonty or Jura for my imaginary Labrador Grin

FudgeFlake · 25/05/2021 11:45

Pro dog carer here. We've had a couple of Milos over the years although none currently. However we presently have three Lunas and two Lolas in the team!

puginamug · 25/05/2021 11:45

I like Dusty too. We are rewatching Stranger Things with DS2 at the moment so it is at the front of our minds.

Milo is the new Bailey Grin
Dusty is a great name though!

Riley also was on the list!

Jonty is a good name for a labrador but not a spaniel I think!

Our dog is called Milo Blush My daughter's choice. Mine would have been Freddie (massive Freddie Mercury fan).

I have heard Luna many times. Not met any other Milo's yet though

Flaunch · 25/05/2021 12:09

Every other dog I meet is called Luna or Ted/dy

tabulahrasa · 25/05/2021 12:19

Dusty’s great, it’s what my childhood dog was called.

Aria20 · 25/05/2021 15:17

Arrierttyclock · 25/05/2021 20:02

I know so many Milos. I love Bruno!

Aria20 · 25/05/2021 20:12

Pesto could be cool, although basil would be great!

whereiwanttobe · 25/05/2021 20:34

In our usual dog field there are Golden, Black and White Milo - and that's out of about 25 early morning regulars. Still a cute name though, and easy to bellow!

Floralnomad · 25/05/2021 21:54

I don’t know any Milos , lots of Teddy’s and Poppy’s .

tothesea · 25/05/2021 22:15

Nico is a really cool name for a dog.

BestIsWest · 25/05/2021 22:21

We have one (DS’s choice, he was a huge Tweenies fan 20 years ago). I have met one or two others but not many.

BestIsWest · 25/05/2021 22:23

Ahh Dusty is lovely.
