We’ve tentatively made the decision to get a dog and I know bits and pieces about looking after digs but the puppy months are an unknown area!
Before we start looking etc I want to read about what I need, expectations, training, sleeping etc etc, basically everything to do with pups.
The amount of websites out there is huge, I could loose years and who knows if I’m reading the right info!
So please recommend me the right places to go that will give me balanced info
Thanks

The Dogs Trust is great - they have a lot of educational stuff and videos on Youtube.

My advice would be to find a trainer or website that you like and understand and try to ignore everything else. I would also say suggest staying away from sensationalist trainers like Caesar Milan. Apart from the fact his methods are dubious and have been discredited by modern trainers he does things that should not be copied in the home.

We have a 7 month old pup and knew nothing before beginning out research. We found the 'Easy peasy puppy squeezy' book excellent and really helped us know what to expect and get through those early weeks.

The Dog Training Advice and Support page on Facebook is a brilliant resource. Run by accredited positive-reinforcement behaviourists who really know their stuff.

The kikopup YouTube videos.

Easy Peasy Puppy Squeasy is good too - quite simple, but that’s good so you don’t have to remember tons

I used pippa mattinsins the puppy handbook, and found her website, the happy puppy site, good too.
