How much to insure puppy for?

Hi, have just got some quotes for insurance for 10 week puppy, following on from the 4 weeks insurance he came with. He came with Petplan, and looking at previous threads they seem to be recommended a lot so thinking will just stay with them.
They have quoted for insuring up to £12 000 or up to £7000, both life cover. Obviously he’s a puppy and I’m hoping pretty healthy so shouldn’t incur too many vet fees initially! At the same time I know fees can mount up if they do occur - just wanted to get some idea of the amount for which people might typically insure puppy? TIA!

As much as you can afford...honestly.

Things like mri or cat scans are thousands of pounds.

An eaten sock that needs removing could easily max out 7k cover.

Ok, thanks - difference per month is only about £10, so guess might go for the higher amount (I’m naturally risk averse anyway!)
