I have a 14 week old pup who has been an utter angel at night. Straight to bed, no fuss. Except the last two nights, he’s gone mad, barking, crying. Heartbreaking stuff. I’m listening to him now - really pulling at my heart strings. I have not gone back in to him - he was clean and comfortable when I left.

What might have happened to change his behaviour? Just trying it on?

Maybe he's had a fright. Maybe he's heard a noise/can see something/the bad weather has upset him. The modern training methods don't advise leaving them to get upset. Why would he be trying it on? It's much more likely he needs some reassurance or the toilet, he's still tiny. Have a look at the Facebook group Dog Training Advice and Support. It's very useful.

I don't think 14 week old puppies understand the concept of "trying it on" Wink

It's far more likely that he's frightened or scared and wants some reassurance. Where does he sleep - is there any way you can have his bed or crate in your room instead of elsewhere?
