I have a 10 month old retriever, all going well, he is very well behaved and brought me so much joy.
One issue I am noticing though is his skin.. it seems to be everywhere! I can cope with his hair being everywhere, a quick sweep and it's gone but his skin is all over the place! Like very bad flaky dandruff?
I raised it with the vet and she said it was just because he was in a warm environment (this was during winter when the heating was on frequently)
But now it isn't warm and it doesn't seem to be improving.

Has any other goldie owners experienced this or heard of this?

Thank you

I had my first goldie for 14 years. Within months of having him he developed terrible flaky skin as you describe like dandruff. At the time we weren’t very experienced dog owners and I just managed it with regular brushing. Over time though it got very bad despite many vet visits where they didn’t help. Eventually had him tested for allergies and was told he was allergic to dust mites. Bathing in tea tree dog shampoo help. Also advised to change his food to nothing rice based, gluten free. Also no pigs ears, chews. This did really help so I would look at his food. I now have 2 more goldies and feed them Macadams and their skins and are beautiful. Hope this helps.

My goldie has suffered with this all his life (11 now). It has never been formally diagnosed but last year reading on the various Goldie facebook pages they mentioned the genetic condition Ichthyosis - Im convinced my dog has this - it can be tested for but cant be 'cured'.
