Help! 1 year old pup pooing in the house again

Hi all,

Our lovely Frankie, 1 years old on Sat! has starting to wee and poo in the house again.

He has a routine of a walk in the morning, and one long one in the evening around 6:15. He does his business on both of them.

I’m not sure what to do - this is a new thing and obviously I want to nip it in the bud ASAP.

He doesn’t go anywhere else but outside in the day. Do you think I need to get him checked at the vets or do you think it’s behavioural?

Any help or advice would be massively appreciated!!

Has anything changed? - have people returned to work - how long is he left at home/been neutered recently/drinking more now weather is warmer/change in food? Are poos solid and firm.

Is he asking to go outside between walks before the accidents? When is he doing it - during day while you are out/during the night? Maybe change when he is fed/have a later walk.

A trip to the vets for a checkup wouldn't hurt to rule out anything physical.

Make sure you have cleaned up properly using a good pet cleaner to remove every trace of scent from previous accidents and go back to the usual house training routine, go with him outside to the garden frequently and praise/reward when he goes outdoors. Ignore and clean up if he goes indoors.

He comes to work with me in the day, so he’s not really alone much. He’s been neutered, nothing else has changed I don’t think.

It’s always in the same place in the kitchen, I did buy some spray but it doesn’t seem to work. Do you think I should block off the area?

Are you saying he doesn't go out between 6:15 at night and his walk in the morning?

Or does he go in the garden in the evening to relieve himself whenever he asks?

How does the poo look? Is it normal or runny? Any mucus or blood? I ask because the only time my goldie did a poo inside was when he had colitis when he was a young dog.

I'd get him checked out at the vet...you haven't said if it's a normal solid poo, or runny. Have you changed his feeding times at all, or the type of food?
