There’s been a lot of dog hate on here lately so I thought it would be nice to have a nice thread on them

I love that no matter what, my dogs are always happy to see me.

They have this wiggle that makes their whole body quiver

They smell like popcorn!

I haven’t been well these last few days and been in bed for most of the time... my big lump of a German Shepherd has not left my side, not to go for a wee or to eat, and has only eaten when I finally managed food today. Every time I’ve woken in the night, she’s been watching over me, even though she normally snores like a foghorn if things are normal. Their sheer joy at just seeing us is so uplifting! I was once told by a breeder that dogs just want to be loved... simple, but so true. I love my daft Ddog!

Regardless of how little room there is on the sofa our Basset Hound will squeeze in somewhere, usually ending up behind someone's head.

She levers herself onto the sofa with her head which is hilarious.

It's hard to pick. He's a Border Collie and there's little that doesn't make me happy. But all of the above plus...
In the evening there is always a point where I'm sitting on the sofa, watching TV or reading, and he will appear in front of me. And sit there staring. Intently. Staring. Which means "i would be very willing to bring you a toy to play with. Would you like me to bring you a toy to play with? Would you? Would you? "

Also. I agree with pp, how they comfort you and seem to know you’re upset, but also, mine does a tail-wag and ‘smile’ if I smile at her!
My much-missed old girl used to do an ear waggle if you smiled or waved at her ... I hope all Ddoggies know how much they’re all loved by us!

Love this thread. I have a gorgeous old boy chihuahua who has been with us since he was a pup. The way he's handled us having kids over the years amazes me. Caught six month old pulling on his ear and he just sits there with them, just wanting to be with them, like he's babysitting. The way he and I have snuggle nights where we go to bed at about 8pm and spoon and watch telly Grin

My gorgeous boy snuggles into me on the sofa and groans with contentment.
My beautiful rescue girl wags her tail while she sleeps. Makes me so glad she is with us now .

The fact my dog is just here is enough to make me happy , it took over 20yrs to persuade my husband that he wanted a dog and fortunately we ended up with the best one in the world .

Stellaris22 · 07/04/2021 19:40

Floralnomad it took me ten years to convince my husband he wanted a dog! She's convinced him that it was the right decision as I often find them cuddling.

Mojoj · 07/04/2021 19:42

My cockapoo's wee contented sigh when we're cuddled up together in bed and he knows it's finally bedtime and he can snooze. And when he sneakily moves up the bed to get into spoon position🥰🥰

meecrowahvay · 07/04/2021 19:50

The sigh when they snuggle up, the battle over which pup can get prime real estate (my thighs) to lie on while watching telly, post bath zoomies! I could do without the two chattier dogs I have chuffing away to ask to go out but love that they only do it to me. Like we understand each other exactly - I'm completely their human. There's just so much love.

My dog flops, she sits on the sofa or bed, lifts her paws and throws herself backwards. Sometimes she lands on me or my little boy which is on purpose and other times I have to catch her as she's about to hit the floor. I know it's going to happen because she sits looking back for where to land, we get excited and she kicks her feet all happy and pulls a silly face when she's gone over. She's a golden retriever cross so quite big to be flopping all over the place and we love it, however the cat doesn't like being flopped on.

Claudia84 · 07/04/2021 21:06

Aaah so much that has been mentioned already.
But also, the way, no matter how soundly he appears to be sleeping, that he will absolutely jump to attention and accompany me on any adventure, however small, into another room at any time of day. And on the way back as well.

Bebecomeback · 07/04/2021 21:16

We lost our old boy last year and I was heart broken. He was 17 so we had been through lots together.
We rescued our new girl last month and she has brought so much happiness. The way she is overjoyed to see me in the morning and her little tail thumps on her bed when one of us walk in the room is just lovely.
No one will ever replace my old boy but she is making us all laugh every day.
