As per title, we're having our bathrooms done. Should take 2-3 weeks. What have others done in this situation, with their dogs? Mine is big and barky but not aggressive. Any tips? Hoping dh can take her to work a couple of days. Tia

Why do you need to do anything? My two large dogs have always stayed in the house as normal when building work is going on.
Can you not shut them in a separate room if needed?

Just shut them in a separate room, unless they're incredibly nervous or bothered by loud noises, in which case you could pop them into kennels or daycare.

My dog will be stressed. Also we have open plan so the only place to shut her is bedrooms. Obviously it's just my dog who hates having people in the house.

If she'll be stressed then would it be kinder to send her to kennels during the week?

My dog wouldn't care once he'd had a good sniff, but they're all different.

I work from home when we have building work happening and if it's one of his daycare days I work at home until he gets picked up.

Do you have a treat jar? My dog gets treats from regular visitors (cleaner, builders etc) and he soon settles when he comes to associate them with treats. Are you worried he will be aggressive? I find my dog is a bit barky at first but as soon as he's had a treat and a sniff and established they're not a threat it has never been an issue. Maybe ask your builders if they're willing to make a fuss of him to help him settle down?

I got a lead for jogging and put her on that so she was round my waist for part of the day and then put her in a room with a family member whenever possible. We also have an open plan house.

I think it is a really sensible question.

Many things to consider. Will the dogs be at home alone with the builders, can you trust the builders to shut doors, gates etc?

Personally if possible I would have the dogs in another location if there is major work going on and I could not be at home with the dogs.

If I was to be at home with then it would depend on the dogs but I would ensure the dogs are happy and stress free, so maybe longer walks etc. I would not force any interaction with the builders.
