we have a 5 month female lab who since she was a small puppy she has had vaginal discharge. Its milky looking. I did take her to the vets, she had antibiotics at first just to rule out an infection. It still happens and I wondered if any other lab owners have known this? She is well in all other ways.

Discharge should always be investigated from what I've read, it can be a sign of infection. Please call your vet today and explain what you've put here.

@puppygalore I hear you - we have taken her to the vets again and she said not to worry. It was just a female puppy thing. I just wondered if anyone else had had this with their pup that was all ...

I've had it with my 6 month old and I assumed it was similar to us women, in that they produce discharge in line with their menstrual cycle. As they are likely to come into season from around 6 months, I thought it was normal I hadn't even thought to go to the vet. She's clear now so mustn't have been an infection.

Will do a little research now for future reference of what's normal and what's not.

That's good, glad your vet said it's ok. Sorry if I sounded doom and gloom! Just I've been doing lots of research about cycles and spaying as my girl is having her first heat, and everything I see says that discharge can be serious, it sounds awful if they get infection of the womb, and it must get investigated etc. We've never had anything like discharge until she started coming into heat.
