How are spaniels with cats?

We have been looking to adopt a dog for months now, but can’t find one. Battersea Dogs Home literally has about 4 available dogs, and it’s the same with other shelters.

I’ve just been looking at a spaniel for adoption but he has never lived with cats. Does anybody know how the are - generally - with cats? Thanks.

* I always thought cocker spaniels were quite lazy.*

My show cocker likes to chase any that come in the garden but maybe if you introduced them from a young age.

Had either Cavaliers or Springers my whole life. The Cavaliers chase cats or at least bark a lot. The Springers have always ignored cats.

My current Springer chases birds in the garden. Neighbouring cats she acts like she hasn't seen them. Same with ones on walks.

Our spaniel still barks at a house we go past on our walks where a cat used to live, the cat has been dead for 2 years!

@ineedaholidaynow that’s hilarious 😂

Bliss Cavalier Rescue have dogs available - they are always very specific about the type of home required, which is good because it should stop any unexpected problems cropping up post-adoption. They mainly have Cavaliers as you'd expect but sometimes they have Cavalier crosses or other spaniel types. I can spend ages going gooey over their photos and videos!
