New puppy with existing dog before jabs?

How does it work, loads of people do it

New puppy 8 wks old, had first jab last week
Do they have to be kept apart until after the second jab?

No it’s fine
Assume your adult dog is vaccinated
There’s a hypothetical risk your dog could bring virus in to house but same risk of you bringing in on your shoes.
Pup will have some immunity from mum and also from first vaccine anyway .

I've kept any pup away from other dogs except mine until had all jabs. My dogs are all vaccinated but i would not let a puppy be near dogs outside my own.

It's absolutely fine as long as your adult dog is fully jabbed.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 27/03/2021 14:02

It's fine.

I've also let puppies mix with friends' dogs who are vaccinated (and obviously okay with puppies).

GooodMythicalMorning · 27/03/2021 14:28

Yep fine as long as your other dogs vaccinations are up to date.

Any tips about introducing the puppy
They won’t be living together, but they will be spending a lot of time together at each other’s houses. It’s my mums puppy and my dog
