Not a common breed in the UK at all, but does anyone have one and would you reccomend for a family?

I've only met one CBR a handful of times and it seemed to have all the best bits of a number of breeds we like.

Would love any experiences!

My friend is on her second. First was lovely. Second has developed a few issues. Always been great around children.

I've also only ever met one, I walked him for several months for an army officer before she got posted. He was a nice enough dog, unreliable with bicycles and other vehicles, so only allowed off lead in completely safe situations. I still think about the time we met a bicycle in a completely ridiculous place, I still have no idea how the bike got there as access was only available by clambering over stiles. Bumping for you as I'd love to know a bit more about the breed too!

We had two when I was growing up - a brother and sister. They were gorgeous dogs, so loving and smart. High energy though, we had a massive garden they could run around all day. And they did have a tendency to run after squirrels and such but that was probably down to us not training them as well as we could have. Would definitely recommend!

Known for sometimes having a strange smell from the oily coat and being the most difficult and rough of the gundog retrieving breeds to have. Knew someone who used to breed them but switched to working labs after many years for an easier life. They can be quite difficult with people, not as friendly as other retrieving breeds.

A close neighbour has a curly coat retriever which is very lovely and also unusual gundog breed if that side of it appeals. It's not really curly like a poodle is.
