Hornbeam wooden dog chews - any experience?

Ive received a delivery from a company that I now know to be Lithuanian, they seem to be the only people on the web recommending these hornbeam logs - mine looks VERY splintery and I am thinking I've been ripped off. I can't send it back so I am happy to write it off (well, you know, when I say "happy" ...!) but thought I'd ask on here first - thoughts?

Is it rocket o ?I have one from there and I thought the same. The first time pup had it she stripped off the barky splinters , now if seems fine and doesn't make a mess

It doesn't look like any other wooden chews I've seen :/

It's not something I would give my dog.

@renallychallenged yes it is from them, the splintery bark seems hard enough to cause a lot of damage to a dog's mouth and there is definitely actual wood splinters coming away.

A friend who has a larger dog is going to try one but I think this is just going to be an expensive mistake! Never mind, you live and learn.

@renallychallenged thanks though, sorry didn't mean to sound terse and I am glad your dog is ok with the one you have. Thanks both for replying.
