Mine is lying asleep on my foot and "ruffing" away - I adore these little sleep barks, they make me feel so warm and happy and a big smile spreads across my face

When he's lying fast asleep on the hard flooring and I am on a video call with someone who asks me how he is...he hears his name and me talking about him..sometimes he'll get up to sit with me but other times he won't stir at all as he's so out for the count...apart from his tail which starts thumping heavily on the floor.

It's the same thing at the vets waiting for him to wake up from anaesthesia... there'll be a few minutes where he can wag his tail when he can hear me talking but can't lift his head or do anything else 😂

He gives proper hugs when I'm kneeling. He reaches up, puts his paws either side of my neck on my shoulders and the side of his head against mine, and stretches his back out, groans and enjoys a nice back scratch.

noblegreenk · 11/03/2021 00:09

When my greyhound is really excited or content her teeth chatter. It's a really common thing for the breed but I find it so adorable. She mostly does it if she hasn't seen me all day and I get home.

TaraR2020 · 11/03/2021 00:17

Ah, sooo many!

He knows i don't permit kisses but he loves to give them so he'll wait til I'm looking in a different direction and then plant one on my ear! Grin I can't be cross because he does it with such love!

The delight on his face when he realises we're going for his favourite walk.

The way he won't go to bed without me and waits by the stairs for me.

The way he looks at me with such love and happiness and I just try and make sure he knows its returned fourfold ♥️

Kanaloa · 11/03/2021 01:12

If we were all watching telly and a funny bit came on we would all laugh and our old staffy used to get so excited. She would be wagging around on the couch because she knew everyone was happy and she wanted to join in even though she didn’t know what was going on!

Mrstumbletap · 11/03/2021 01:44

Ahhh everything, I just love my cavvie so much.

But the welcome she gives me even when I have been out of the house for 5 minutes, you have to hug her she will not accept strokes only.

The singing noise she makes when you kiss under her chin.

She always paws my leg when I'm cooking as she needs a cuddle, she will not stop until I pick her up cuddle her tightly for several minutes, it like having a baby but so much easier.

When she is chewing something she loves on my lap, her happy little chewing face is so adorable.

How happy she was in snow.

How loopy she gets after a bath or the rain.

caringcarer · 11/03/2021 03:18

I have 3 Lhasa Apso's and when I leave or return to the house they wave at me with a paw through the window. They look so sweet doing it. I wave back to them.

GADDay · 11/03/2021 03:26

Too many things. The way he always look back for me if DH has him on the lead and goes ahead for some reason.

The way he leans against me with his full weight.

The way he loved our old cat, gently nuzzling him when he was unwell and sharing his bed with him.

The way he knows when I am anxious and just sits quietly, right next to me.

When DS was little he had epilepsy - the dog would not leave his side after a seizure.

Cripesalive · 11/03/2021 20:57

My cavie comes into my bed for a cuddle in the mornings after she wakes up. She sometimes sits on the pillow and wraps her whole body around my head. This morning she fell asleep with her head under my chin. She just isn’t happy unless she is physically touching you. Beautiful little creature

suggestionsplease1 · 11/03/2021 21:50

O I forget one of my favourite moments - the sock putting on procedure which occurs every morning. It originated in puppyhood when it was impossible to put on socks without at least one of them being stolen away to the kitchen or livingroom and he's just sort of kept it up.

I sit on the floor with my socks and he crawls up on his belly with rear legs splayed out, makes some snorting noises, rolls a bit and pushes his muzzle into my calves. Then he makes side eye contact with me alongside a harrumph noise before grabbing a sock and taunting me with it. I pretend to grab it off him as he plays about with it for a bit and then when I do get it I drape it over his nose and get him to 'wait' nicely until I've pulled on my other sock and then he lets me take that one as well. Silly little routines you developGrin

Fiercestcalm · 12/03/2021 07:24

Boxer having a very barky dream whilst ‘running’ and disturbed spaniel who she was asleep on top of, he moved from underneath her, did a very grumpy harrumph and hauled himself to the sunny deck, with great effort and was hugely grumpy.

They are increasingly like an elderly married couple, love each other to bits but boy do they irritate each other! Interruption of post breakfast nap time to a spaniel is akin to human snoring domestic duvet dramas! They are often as funny when sleeping as they are when they are awake.

Hoppinggreen · 12/03/2021 08:52

If anyone in the house is upset, even if they are a bit down rather than obviously crying etc he knows and he will come to them and put his head on their knee and look at them. He is very insistent about it and won’t leave until they feel better.
He’s usually quite happy to Potter about or stay in his bed between walks but if somebody is upset he won’t leave them alone.

CarrieMoonbeams · 12/03/2021 12:15

It's funny you saying that, Hoppinggreen - we're just back from a walk, and one of my dogs did something very unusual (for her).

She's a real cuddle monster with me and DH, but doesn't go to other people at all, even people she's known for years. She's not nervous, or shy, she's just not interested.

However, we said hello over the wall to a woman who was working in a garden - we've never seen or spoken to this woman before.

Ddog put her paws up on the wall, tail wagging, and was giving the lady her "Hiya, c'mere, hiya, love you" smiley face, which surprised me. I said "oh that's strange, she's normally very stand-offish with people, I've literally never known her to do that before. ". The poor woman started crying - turns out she'd just had to have her Ddog PTS on Tuesday Sad.

I reckon my wee dog sensed that, somehow, and was trying to comfort her.

Every day I strive to be as wonderful as my dogs think I am!

Brochdogs · 12/03/2021 12:27

Such a lovely thread, all these special and often simple moments. It makes me smile when my dog gives me his paw and I give him my hand which he 'squeezes' and we sit a while holding hand/paw.

PuppyMonkey · 12/03/2021 12:40

Ah these are lovely. I like it when mine goes to greet any visitor/postman etc at the front door with a gift of a favourite toy or whatever he can access at the time in his mouth. He once greeted The Liberal Democrat councillor, who was canvassing, with a luffah. Which was nice.Grin

Pumpkintopf · 12/03/2021 12:46

@CarrieMoonbeams oh my goodness! Your lovely dog!!

fairydustandpixies · 12/03/2021 12:50

My gorgeous old man nudges my arm for a tickle, sleeps on my feet and pushes his butt against my knee for a scratch at the base of his tail. His days are almost at an end now and I thought he'd had a stroke this morning - he yelped and collapsed and couldn't stand up. Stupid dog had got one of his back toe nails caught in his collar whilst having a scratch! Daft dog breaks my heart every day by being so gorgeous!

Mrstumbletap · 12/03/2021 22:27

Dogs are simply the best.

RandomMess · 13/03/2021 09:49

@fairydustandpixies I have cried with laughter at your DDog "stroke" this morning, in part with sadness too because you know you have limited time and the grief of knowing they will be gone and the huge hole they leave.

Thanks
spiderlight · 17/03/2021 14:39

Ours has a huge collection of teddies of all sizes, and he always brings one to greet us even if we're just coming back into the room after nipping to the loo. If someone has actually been out, as soon as he hears them coming back he will rush to his toybox and do a frantic little search to find just the right teddy to greet them with. His current favourite is an enormous sloth.

BarleyMop · 17/03/2021 17:50

When we walk into the room where our Labrador is asleep on his back, and he wags his tail whilst it’s squished under his body. It’s the sweetest thing

ladybee28 · 20/03/2021 22:04

When it's time for a walk I always sit in the same kitchen chair to put my shoes on. Morgan sits beside me every time to watch, and when I bend down to tie my laces, he gives me one single lick on the cheek Grin

Makes me burst.

Peachee · 20/03/2021 22:08

Lying on her back with not a care in the world.. usually asleep but little beast eyes open when you go near her to give her a tummy tickle.
All her tummy and mouth goes all pink and smushy!!! Smile

Peachee · 20/03/2021 22:09

**beady not beast

SkiingIsHeaven · 20/03/2021 22:18

He puts his face on the sofa and looks at me through his furry fringe when he wants to go out.

If I have a mummy (power) nap he comes and sleeps next to me.

The rest of the time he guards me by lying in the doorway to my office looking out of the window and barks if anyone comes past.

I love him so much.

MaryIsA · 22/03/2021 06:41

Taking the special treat to her special place, she does such a happy little self important trit trot.

She’ll stand by a bench on a walk and hope you’ll sit down so she can sit on your lap and she can survey the world.

She just melts my heart.
