My dog hasn't tried to bite another dog for two full days

My rescue staffy has been a nightmare with other dogs. She's very anxious and whines, lunges and snaps. It's taken us almost a year (with a bit of a setback in the middle when we had to move house 3 times in a short space of time, and one of the times included long haul flights) but we've just had two days in a row of walking calmly past all the dogs we met and ignoring all of them. I wanted to share. It feels like a bit of a breakthrough. We've never had more than a day of complete calm before, and the parks were crazy busy this weekend so there were lots of opportunities for her to lose her mind!

Next job is to try and get her over her hatred of my parents' dogs...

Note: She is always under control and has never actually bitten another dog (but she definitely would if I'd let her)

Well done! How did you achieve this? Was it through a trainer or self taught?

Our dachshunds are a nightmare!

Breakthroughs like that are so lovely.

Congratulations! It can be so stressful walking a dog aggressive dog so here's to lots of stress free walks for you all going forward Smile

We managed it with LOTS of treats whenever she looked at me instead of another dog. We started out with extra delicious things like cheese and bits of meat, but now she just gets her ordinary dry food.

Aww, well done!

I have a reactive dog (just noise, no actual aggression) and it's so nice when you have achievements like this. Way to go!

Well done!! Mine is selectively iffy.. fine with some dogs, growly at others and there is nothing quite like a really calm walk to make you feel good!
