Help! Need to change lab puppy's diet? (Poos, sorry!)

Hello there

I was hoping someone may have some words of wisdom. I'll speak to the vet on Monday but I started to do a bit of internet research and there is too much information out there that I don't really know where to start.

We have a 6 month old lab.
She has had various poo issues and vet suggested that the next thing we try is to change her diet. She is currently on chicken based kibble.

But where do we start? Has anyone done this and have any great suggestions?

What are the issues she's having?

Have you had allergy tests done? Many dogs are allergic to chicken - you could try a salmon and potato based food instead?

I would suspect your vet will be wanting to use an exclusion diet that is suitable for a growing dog. I would speak to your get about what they suggest.

I switched my puppy into raw and she is so much better. I used the BARF Uk Facebook groups advice as it has a transition guide

Echo: what are the issues?

Too much, too runny? - I'd be looking at the amount fed before aything else. Then look at the ingredients. Beef is the most common allergen, followed by dairy and then chicken - but allergies and intolerences are different and poo sounds like an intolerance rather than an allergy (to me).

Too hard? Constipated? I'd look at how much water the dog was drinking and, if on kibble, try adding wet food to it in order to insraese water intake.

Mucus? Blood? I'd be led by the vet. Well, I'd be led by the vet regardless, but yswim.
