Help! Alternative to Burns?

TulipWoodpecker · 25/02/2021 11:21

Does anyone know of a good dog food that is similar to Burns?
Our dog has been on Burns happily for years but we can't get it anymore thanks to Brexit.
After much research we bought Wolf of Wilderness but he is refusing to eat it. We're mixing it with the Burns we have left and he is methodically picking out the Burns and leaving the WoW Hmm
We don't want to buy another huge expensive bag so preferably we want something we can buy a much smaller bag of, to test first.
Any recommendations welcome! Thanks!

Does fetch and zooolua not sell Burns dog food?

Zooplus*

Its on the pets at home website too. Are you sure it's Burns dry dog food?

TulipWoodpecker · 25/02/2021 14:27

They have no stock until at least March and the date keeps getting pushed back. I'm in the EU and it's to do with the new import regulations.

You didn't say you weren't in the UK

It depends on the type of Burns you are using but I think their default adult food is chicken and rice based. So..

Skinners Field & Trial Chicken and Rice

Arden Grange do a chicken and rice dry food

Happy Dog do Professional NaturCroq Chicken and Rice (I think HD is EU based so this may be easier for you to source)

Are any of those any good for you? Not sure who does sample bags though - I think Skinners do smaller bags that are relatively cheap so less money wasted.

Thank you SirSniffs - I'll check those out!

No worries. There are other suggestions but they are smaller/UK based firms so I think they'd have the same export issues.

However, post back if you don't find anything and I'll drop them on here too, just in case any do have uninterupted EU distribution.

I think dog food must be at the back of the Brexit queues because I am seeing quite a few brands with supply issues at the moment. Either into or out of the UK.

James wellbeloved is good, we swapped to this from Burns. As Burns didn't agree with one of ours.
