We are very excited to be collecting our cockpoo puppy soon so I'm busy getting everything ready for him. Can you tell me what size crate I should buy please?

We borrowed a smaller one to begin with but switched straight to an XL as it became clear our puppy loved to stretch and splash out when she slept. She hardly ever curls up. I didn't worry about it being too big as she was fantastic with toilet training. Do you have the NextDoor App? If you make a request I'm sure you could borrow one from someone local.

One thing I would suggest is to line the crate with vetbed to begin with. I bought several fancy crate mattresses that were chewed in the first few months. Vetbed is cheap as chips, can be washed at high temperatures and has enough pile to be comfortable.

We got the size suggested for our pup when he was full size (I googled it), I think they gave suggestions of possibly one size smaller. We had a divider but have never used it. He likes to move around a lot.

Re toileting, even though the crate isn't massive, he does occasionally wee in it but cries until we clean up, he doesn't do it at one end and sleep at the other like the info suggests they would, it is only genuine accidents.

30 inch crate would be my suggestion. However Cockerpoos do vary a bit in size, so maybe ask the breeder? I bought a 24 inch crate for my similar sized dog and had to size up as it is now a pretty tight fit (but still useful for in the car). If you are not planning to use the crate past puppyhood, then 24 inch should be fine.
