I never thought it was possible after the love of my life died in May. He was a JRT small, blind, grumpy and like no other dog on earth. The hole in my heart was so painful - we decided to start fostering for a local charity.

Several lovely foster dogs and 3 lockdowns later we have adopted this beautiful blonde nutcase. I had no idea my heart could feel like this again 😍

I can’t see the photo!

But dogs do have a way of just filling your heart perfectly, don’t they.

Girlintheframe · 18/02/2021 06:56

Ahhh he/she looks beautiful and so at home!
Nothing bring as much joy as a doggie. Enjoy.

doucey · 18/02/2021 07:23

Now that is one cozy dog. So happy for you OP

Happytentoes · 18/02/2021 07:41

She’s a beauty, and clearly very comfy in her home. Enjoy your lovely dog.

StrawberryFizz26 · 18/02/2021 07:46

This is amazing. I know exactly how you feel, I lost my miniature schnauzer in Nov 2018 and it was just the worst, due to travelling for work I couldn't get another dog so got 2 cats, who are ace but not the same. Then lockdown happened and I got this little treasure in Sept. I tell him every single day how much I love him.

Daisy was 6 when I got her and had been used for breeding so never played or anything, I enjoy his puppyness every single day. I think I'm doing a good job with him too, he's clever, confident, cheeky and brings pure joy to my soul every single day! I don't think I'll ever be without a dog again.

I love her so much
MaryIsA · 18/02/2021 07:55

Yep. Our first puppy, she’s 13 months, got her after my husband’s son passed away. She’s been a complete therapy dog. She’s so gorgeous, funny, loves her people, and so absolutely and unconditionally loved.

Blubell281 · 18/02/2021 08:47

That's so lovely. He looks right at home.

StrawberryFizz26 What breed is he? He's a cutie.

StrawberryFizz26 · 18/02/2021 09:27

He's a yorkie x poodle and just the best little dog! I'm so in love with him.

This was the valentines card I got for DP and it's soooo true Grin

I love her so much
Blubell281 · 18/02/2021 09:45

Awe he's gorgeous. What's he like at home, with people/other dogs? Is he happy to be left alone? How much exercise does he need?

Blubell281 · 18/02/2021 09:45

Sorry for hijacking the thread OP!

Snowymcsnowsony · 18/02/2021 09:56

We lost ddog1 last February.. A new dpuppy was brought home 3 weeks before she went. I have 1 treasured photo of them both..

I love her so much
StrawberryFizz26 · 18/02/2021 11:54

bluebel281 he's clever, picks training up in a matter of minutes, he's great with people, kids and other dogs, he gets on with the cats, he been be a bit barky when they're ignoring him and he is very protective of the house so barks but not excessively and its his job.
He can be fussy over food but overall he's an amazing little dude.

I'm so lucky to have him & really enjoy every minute with him.

StrawberryFizz26 · 18/02/2021 11:55

He's not really left that often, cos when are we going, when I go to the shop he has a little whinge he soon settles down.

StrawberryFizz26 · 18/02/2021 12:08

Snowymcsnowsony that's a gorgeous photo. It leaves such a massive hole when they go to Rainbow Bridge.

That's why I treasure every single second with dpup.

LApprentiSorcier · 18/02/2021 12:13

Aww. There is a dog shaped hole in my life since my elderly boy passed away last summer. We'd like another but we're waiting till things are more normal in the hope there will be more available in rescue. Enjoy your new arrival.

FLOrenze · 18/02/2021 13:28

I wanted a dog my whole life, but I had to wait until I was 70 before I was in a position to adopt one. She was 7 when we got her and my love for her totally consumes me.

I love her so much
catinbootsx · 18/02/2021 13:33

I'm not crying. You're all crying Grin

Oh my god she's beautiful I'm so jealous 😍

Spidey66 · 18/02/2021 13:41

I know what you mean. I always wanted a dog, finally got one in 2019 after my husband retired. I could never imagine loving a dog as much as I love her. Smelly farts, muddy paws, and boundless energy has not put me off her.

I tell her at least 10 times a day I love her. I don't say that to my husband nearly as much!!!

I can have a shit day at work, but as soon as I come home to seeing her waggy tail through the door as the key goes in the lock ready to greet me makes me go all happy and gooey inside.

Saucery · 18/02/2021 13:42

My eyes are so itchy! Odd, because I’m not allergic to dogs at all.......

Spidey66 · 18/02/2021 13:46

Here is the object of my affections, the lovely, gorgeous Maggie, participating in her favourite hobby (except for chasing bubbles)-watching the washing machine, daft dog that she is.

I love her so much
purpleme12 · 18/02/2021 13:50

Watching the washing machine 🤣 brilliant

StrawberryFizz26 · 18/02/2021 14:36

These dogs are all so cute 😍

Lizbiz89 · 18/02/2021 15:13

@catinbootsx I'm so happy to hear that your new pup has brought you so much happiness. We put my beautiful boy to sleep on Tuesday and I feel so heartbroken. Feel so sad and empty without him here. But hearing that you've found happiness again gives me so much hope. I can't wait to feel that love and comfort again for a pooch.
