What time is your dog’s last wee of the night?

Ours quite likes hers at 9.30, and grumbles a bit if I make her go out at 10.30 when we go to bed. She lies in till about 8.

Should I just not bother making her go out for that last wee?

Last walk for our dog is after dinner - somewhere between 7 and 8. He’s got a bladder of steel though so even if he misses that walk, he’s not particularly bothered. He’s now 2 but up until he was 8/9 months he refused to go out after dinner ConfusedGrin

If the dog is not bothered for a last wee, I wouldn’t take her and just see what happens.

MangoButterFingers · 16/02/2021 21:52

9pm.

First wee is 7am weekdays, 8.30am weekends.

MangoButterFingers · 16/02/2021 21:54

I should say - he is offered the chance of a wee at 9pm. He's a grown dog so I figure he is old enough to decide if he actually needs one or not Grin

AlwaysLatte · 16/02/2021 21:56

Usually between about 12-1.

Purplecatshopaholic · 16/02/2021 21:57

Usually when we go to bed - around half ten/eleven. Never an issue getting him to go out unless the weather is bad, lol

Nogardenersworld · 16/02/2021 22:34

About midnight
Doesn’t wee again until about 11.30/12 the next day if can help it (though we’re up and the option to get out of bed and walk is there!)

Alienchannell21 · 16/02/2021 22:34

Anytime between 8.30- 11. Makes no difference in the morning. He sleeps until we sleep and even then he's not keen to get out to go.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 16/02/2021 23:22

Mine appears to have a bladder of steel, and will easily go 14 hours without a wee, even if encouraged. He's not a morning dog, and literally never has an accident.

Last wee of the night ends up being somewhere between about 6pm and 11pm, depending on when he asks. First wee is anywhere between 8am and 2pm (I'm not kidding).

Floralnomad · 16/02/2021 23:28

Ours gets the opportunity at about 10 usually , I’ve no idea if he goes every night as I don’t stand and watch . He always comes in and has a big drink , gravy bone then upstairs to bed . He gets up between 8-9 and has his first wee anytime between 9-10 am , he never goes out in the garden until after he has had his breakfast .

Ireallymustgotobed · 16/02/2021 23:37

Somewhere between 10.30 and 11.30pm usually, then quite happy anywhere up till 9am the next day. I made the mistake a few months ago of getting into the habit of giving him a small handful of biscuits when he came back in (the weather had been bad and it persuaded him to shift himself off the sofa to go out) and he went through a stage of asking to go out a few times every evening in attempt to get extras!

Pinkchocolate · 16/02/2021 23:40

Mine usually goes around 10/11pm and then about twelve hours later. DH usually tries to take him in the morning before he goes to work and my dog just snuggles up to me in bed and gives the “fudge off, I’m not moving look”.

TheAuthorityofJackieWeaver · 16/02/2021 23:44

Dog flap and he manages his own bladder.

He often goes out around 11ish, and I can see on the security camera he often goes out around 2/3am, guess he does a wee then? I don’t notice when he does his first wee of the day, he’s in and out of the garden as he pleases.

NoSquirrels · 16/02/2021 23:49

Whatever time the last person to bed is. She wouldn’t pee in the garden at all for aaaaaaages after we got her (a rescue) as always holding out for a walk. Now she’ll do a final goodnight pee for a treat after (but tries to cheat sometimes by just lurking on the patio Grin) but it has to be last thing at night, whatever time. She has an iron bladder and happy to sleep in so can be 12+ hours.

SnarkyBag · 16/02/2021 23:49

Usually about 4/5pm. He hates going out for a pee and when it’s time to fit us to go to bed he shoots upstairs as quick as he can to avoid going out. He doesn’t like getting up in the morning either so can be anything up to 10 am before he has his morning pee

Crunched · 16/02/2021 23:50

6pm

Yellowfish2020 · 17/02/2021 00:00

You lucky lot! Mine can't even cope with 7 hours overnight! She is tiny though so not sure if that makes a difference? I think she goes every 5 hours or so

Girlintheframe · 17/02/2021 06:17

7/7.30pm is his last walk and he pees then. He has access to the garden anytime but never goes asks after his walk.
He doesn't go 1st think either. Usually doesn't go again till 9-10am.
Very strange! Our last dog would go about 10pm then straight out again as soon as he woke.

butterry · 17/02/2021 06:30

I think your dog could probably hold it if not too young. Ours goes during 8.30pm walk but also has a pad inside and goes on that around 9-10am.

mellongoose · 17/02/2021 06:40

Out at about 10pm. Then again at about 7am.

If his night wee has been too early he will sit at the bottom of the stairs and harrumph in the morning until we get up.

If it's raining he doesn't like to get out of bed at all!

Juanbablo · 17/02/2021 06:42

About 9. Although last night I let him out and he didn't go. He's not up yet this morning. I don't know how he holds it so long!

chutneypig · 17/02/2021 06:53

Around 8pm here. We see if she wants to go out when the last one of us goes to bed but usually she looks at us like we’re mad. I’m usually up at 6, but she’s generally not desperate to go out. She’s 6 months old.

devildeepbluesea · 17/02/2021 06:59

Ddog is nearly 19 now and goes out before I turn in. Quite often that's early - I'll watch TV in bed and am an early riser. So often it's around 8. First wee is around 7am. Sometimes he also needs a nighttime wee now which is fair enough at his age.

Bayleaf25 · 17/02/2021 08:35

Our dog is 18 months and has a bladder of steel, she refused to go if sleepy and if we put her out would literally lie down on the patio and try to sleep, so we stopped bothering.
She goes from about 7.30/8pm to around 7.30/8am the next morning (and always wants breakfast before going outside).

Sitdowncupoftea · 17/02/2021 14:25

I let mine out before I go to bed about midnight. I get up about 9am and let them out usually they are asleep still.

Inextremis · 17/02/2021 14:52

I usually let ours out around 1 am on my way to bed, then DH lets them out again at 6.30 when he gets up. They don't always want to go!
