Hes just chased a sheep into a pond in the snow. Im heartbroken.

When he was younger he chased sheep before and he has ALWAYS been on a lead since then. Sheep or not.

We were walking down a field a walk through daily that has never had sheep in in the 20 years I've lived here. He was on his extendable lead and it was on loose but he was right next to me. I opened the gate to go through and felt him pull on the lead. Saw the sheep and put the clip on so he couldn't get any closer and the lead snapped. He chased the sheep and would not come back. One jumped into a pond and I finally got him back.

Another girl from the house nearby helped me get the sheep out but it went into shock but was still breathing. I put my coat around it and sat with her whilst she called the farmer and another lad came over and said the farmer was going to be furious as this had happened earlier this morning. I gave them my number said I would pay any vet bills etc and left it with my coat wrapped around it.

The farmer has just called and spoken to my dad as I was too upset. He's shouted at my dad (understandably) and is threatening to get the police involved and wants immediate compensation and threatened to come and shoot my dog. The sheep is alive and is warming back up in this man's house and is expected to make a full recovery and I am going to walk up there later (WITHOUT THE DOG) to check on it.

I just wanted somewhere to write and be devestated. Im upset how the farmer spoke to my dad as it was a complete and utter accident but I understand his frustration. I wouldn't of even walked in the field with my dog if I had any clue there was going to be sheep in there. He hasn't got excited around them since the first time but I would never risk it.

Might aswell get it to 700 now

🤣 Sorry OP. Hope you, dog and sheep are all good.

Bisquiteen · 22/02/2021 18:35

@TwelvePaws, can you not answer the question? From where does the meat come with which you feed two of your dogs? Do animals have to be killed to provide the meat?

TwelvePaws · 22/02/2021 18:36

where do you get meat from? Has an animal been killed to obtain said meat? If so, you can't get more hypocritcal than that!!!!!! The cognitive dissonance is astonishing, truly it is

Right, so now you’ve realised you got your facts wrong about me feeding my dogs a vegan diet, you don’t want to talk about that anymore. How convenient.

I already said, in my post days or weeks ago, on this thread, that of course my dogs have to eat. And that all I can do is buy as good quality as I can. This is organic, from organic farms that I know of through my family. Not from intense farming but small family farms. They look after their animals but they do not claim to love them, which was my point,

You’ll have to PM me if you want to ‘chat’ further as OP doesn’t need her thread starting up again about something very different to her original post.

Bisquiteen · 22/02/2021 18:51

I wasn't aware that anyone 'owned' threads other than MumsNet? This is a public forum and I do not want to PM you thank you. I am happy to debate your hypocrisy on a public forum and, if you think you have a valid point, you ought to feel exactly the same.

In my initial question I was trying to find out if you denied your dogs meat. That's how debating works you see. You each ascertain facts about the other person's argument. If you are not willing to debate using facts, or the truth, then you are simply spreading lies aren't you?

So, to continue, you think it's fine to kill animals if you don't claim to love them? Can you explain how that makes the animal's eventual slaughter less unpleasant for the animal in question? I am really interested to find out wether you think that animals are cognisant of professions of human love for them. Fascinating stuff 🤪

Are we not allied to post in this thread anymore?

SofiaMichelle · 22/02/2021 20:42

Allowed, even.

Bisquiteen · 22/02/2021 21:04

Apparently not, or at least according to the self-styled forum police we're not 😂I'm still really curious to find out how the death of an unloved animal is much nicer/kinder/whatever than that of an animal which hasn't been loved and how this all squares with vegan principles. I might have a long wait since it seems that reality might prevent an answer being formulated ...🤯

I think some vegans make up their own rules or ‘codes’ and feeding your dog dead animals, I’d included in that code but chasing sheep and scaring them is just fine.

*is included
