Hi all
My dog had diarrhea a few days ago with blood in it. The vet prescribed some antacids and antibiotics for gastroenteritis and we are feeding her a plain diet of boiled chicken and rice only for now.
The diarrhea has cleared up quickly but now she is constipated - she hasn't been for a poo in 2.5 days.
Also, she is eating her food like she's starving, but she will not drink water at all. We've had to resort to squirting a bit down her throat to make sure she is hydrated!
My concern is that she associates both drinking water and pooing with the horrible wet diarrhea she had a few days ago - particularly as she went in the kitchen at about 2 in the morning and was so upset about it she was crying for ages while we cleaned up. Shes very clean and hates dirt or anything in her space/territory and has never once been in the house before.
I'm not sure if thats the case but i dont know what to do about it... I'm currently savig the water from boiling the chicken for her and cooling it in the hope of making a broth for her, but not sure what else I can try. Any help appreciated.
