Just saw this and felt the information could be useful to know!!
As a private renter I had to give added deposit to have our 2 ddogs. We were refused several properties we had viewed.. If it prevents people having to consider rehoming a loved ddog it's good news!

Brilliant news. I'm a private renter and my landlady is fantastic and allowed me to get my dog. I'm not planning on moving, but should it be required this is very good news to me!

While it’s great in theory, in practise I’m afraid I’m very sceptical about this.
Most ‘prospective renters’ probably won’t ask for permission before hand because they know the landlord will refuse.
Legal or illegal the reality is imo that most properties advertised will continue to state ‘no pets’ and when a tenant applies and mentions their pets they will be refused and the landlord will just rent to someone else.
I certainly wouldn’t mention my animals if I was looking to move in somewhere

Landlords will just refuse to accept applications by pet owners, surely?

Sadly, I don't think this will change anything.
