Any advice for a dog with chronic kidney disease please

Please be gentle. I'm really heartbroken with our recent diagnosis.

14 year old beautiful lab hasn't been herself recently, results came back today showing she's at stage 4 of kidney disease.

I've been given advice what to feed her etc and she's pending a few more tests but I feel broken to be honest.

I can't take my eyes off her and want to feel a bit of hope.

Anyone give me something to cling on to please?

I a sorry you are having to go through this.

I am not a medic but do have friends that have had dogs with kidney disease who have managed their illness for several years. However I guess it depends on how bad the disease has got.

A real shock for you to deal with. Can you get back in touch with your vet for a more detailed chat. Flowers

Thanks for replying.
I have spoken to the vet again today, she's got an infection too so we are treating that in the hope she will pick up a bit. She doesn't even want to walk or eat which is not like her at all.
It's breaking my heart seeing her like this.

Oh bless her. It so hard to see them when they are poorly Sad. Fingers crossed if the infection clears up she will feel a bit better.

My dog who I lost at age 19 had kidney disease. She was diagnosed 15 months earlier. It wasn’t the only thing that caused her trouble and wasn’t a big issue at the end. There’s a wonderful group on Facebook called canine kidney disease. It was my lifeline and the advice was amazing. You can get amazing results with diet alone. Please don’t be sad, it can be managed.

I'm going to join that's group now, thank you so much

@curlymom I literally can't thank you enough for recommending the Facebook group. I've learned so much more in a few hours than I have in the last few days.
I have some hope back again!! ❤️❤️
