I will be collecting my gorgeous new puppy in the middle of February. He's a Carin/Norfolk terrier cross. Name suggestions welcome.

I've joined the Dog Training Facebook group - what a fantastic store of information they have. Any other tips, advice or words of warning are welcome.

First time puppy owner so feeling scared and excited in equal measure.

Aww so sweet, he looks like a Toby to me, Enjoy.

BloodyCreateUsername · 23/01/2021 17:13

He’s adorable! I love Virgil. Congratulations!

Santaiscovidfree · 23/01/2021 17:14

Don't do it op!!
Donald.. Nn Donny

Buy a good puppy handbook (think there's one called the perfect puppy or similar) and start as you mean to go on. Don't give in to puppy dog eyes thinking you can sort him out later, it won't work and you'll end up with a free range dog that'll annoy you and everyone else. Establish a routine!

Percy
Vinnie
Levi
Ted
Wilf
Buddy

Frenchfancy · 23/01/2021 17:20

@Scandicc our old Ddog was a Gordon Setter. Beautiful dogs, but get her used to being groomed from day 1 (we didn't and regretted it once she got older)

@QueenOfToast come and join us on the puppy survival thread.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 23/01/2021 17:30

Wilf is adorable. I like Earl too.

Clymene · 23/01/2021 17:34

Oh look at his little stubby legs! He's gorgeous.

Chunkymenrock · 23/01/2021 17:38

Beanie

myfatiguehastiredness · 23/01/2021 20:02

Our puppy arrives second week of Feb. A girl rough collie. She will be sable coloured (sandy)

I think yours looks like a Banjo. Otis is nice. We liked Albus for a boy.

Gordon setters are lovely.

Darklane · 23/01/2021 20:20

He’s gorgeous
I used to show & breed Cairns for years, lovely little dogs. Wonder if his ears will go up like a Cairn or stay dropped like a Norfolk. Which breed is his mum?

M0rT · 23/01/2021 20:25

If he's a Cairn cross you need a Scottish name, Hamish, Archie and Dougal are my suggestions. I'm sure there are other lovely Scottish names available not from Monarch of the Glen Grin
Top tip for a puppy is put everything much higher than you think he can reach and cover/block off any cables.
Also any furniture you love and can't block off remove for a while.
I put new side tables I loved in the attic when the puppy started to nibble. So glad I did because what's cute and harmless in a new pup is destructive and expensive in an older one!!
Also enjoy the cuddles ☺️

Darklane · 23/01/2021 20:40

Finn
Harris
Lewis

A friend once suggested I should christen one of mine
Angus MacCoatup Grin

Goneroundthetwist · 23/01/2021 22:00

He looks like a Gruff (pronounced Griff), a welsh boys name.

QueenOfToast · 24/01/2021 12:38

Thank you for all your comments. I was massively over-excited/anxious yesterday, but after a lovely walk in the snow I'm feeling more back to normal today. Thanks to the contributors in The Doghouse I'm already prepared for the fact that I have climbed aboard the puppy rollercoaster of emotions and I will just try to enjoy the ride.

Also, thank you everyone for the fabulous name suggestions; after extensive family argument discussion we have decided to call him Ziggy ✨

I'll now be heading over to the new puppy thread where I will look for answers to all the boring questions about insurance etc.

I'm getting a puppy!

I’m getting PicpoulPup in 2.5 weeks and am massively excited!

Thanks for the Facebook references - I hadn’t thought to look there for support groups. I lost my last dog 10 years ago but circumstances now mean I can indulge in a pup again - but feel a bit rusty!

Here is Lola - she’s a chocolate Sprocker and I can’t wait to collect her!

I'm getting a puppy!

@PicpoulDeMeNay
Ooh congratulations. Lola looks very elegant and beautiful! Look forward to hearing your puppy stories soon.
