Indestructible dog toys

My 7 month old cocker is a able to dissect every “strong” toy we’ve tried. He loves pulling out the stuffing so clearly need stuffing free but he destroys toys within half an hour. He pulls the fluff off tennis balls.

But, he loves toys. Are there any genuinely tough toys out there?

The Kong toy range are very good.

According to my dog there are no such thing as indestructible toys. But suede toys (like Green&Wilds) are quite strong.

I tend to buy soft toys every now and then and just let him destroy them. Obviously not all the time because it’s a waste of money. But if that’s what he enjoys 🤷🏻‍♀️

Black Kong Extreme. You can stuff it with treats too.

He has Kong toys - the tennis balls were stripped but the rubber holds up (total pain because I have a latex allergy so dh or dd have to deal with them. He used to love his cuddlies and looked so cute carrying them around but now he just rips of the eye and pulls out the stuffing. In October he pulled out a squeaker that he vomited up with blood too! Evolution wise I’m really not sure how dogs have survived. I’m forever pulling stuff out of his mouth yet he’s very suspicious of his own dinner! It’s just as well I love him!

Chuck it balls are pretty good. No fluff to pull off either

My terrier destroys toys. She likes the Chuck it balls and the Kong squeaky balls (not tennis balls they’re like a see through rubbery material) and they last us ages.

My dogs destroy tennis balls, chuckit balls and most Kong toys. The Kong teddy did last quite some time with his face ripped off, though.

Rope toys and some nylabone type chews last well, though. I found some bamboo-based bone-shaped chews in TK Maxx. Quite pricey (about £7) but the puppy loves them and they're bearing up well.

The Nyla bones etc just aren’t of interest to Ddog at all, he just wants fluffy things to destroy. We bought him a rope squirrel for Xmas which he really enjoyed but it was a pile of fibres by Boxing Day

I’m a bit cautious of mine with rope toys as I don’t want him to eat the strings as they come apart and cause him damage.

Rowdies by Westpaw are really tough. My rough collie destroys soft toys but hasn't these and he loves him. GoughNuts are good too.

Following with interest. My lab seems to think that his main purpose in life is to destroy soft toys. Dd is still reeling from the destruction of princess celestia. She was not able to be saved.

We have found a little bit of success with the toys with no stuffing. Fox, squirrel bear etc from pets at home. He will carry them about in his mouth but doesn't dissect them like he does with other things

I swear by these. My dog could destroy a tennis ball in seconds but these last a very long time. They are his fav toy. The squeaker doesn't last long (thank god) but the ball is great.

My springer loves to destroy toys and her beds - she pulls the stuffing out of both!
Toys that have stood the test of time have been her kong and Chuck it balls.

Everything else gets decimated. I now tend to buy the dog toys that Aldi sell - usually have rope inside. She loves them, and once she has loved them past safety I bin them.

She also now has a large folded duvet instead of a proper bed as we have been through so many beds all of which have been literally dragged around, fought with and had the stuffing removed. Maybe it's a spaniel thing?

On the plus side she has never chewed anything of ours - so our shoes and furniture are all fine!

Ours loves KONG knot toys, and Harrington’s crinkly toys. Not sure how long they’d last with an extreme chewer though.

Goughnuts and KONG bones should be good though?

As long as he doesn't realise it has stuffing inside you'll be fine! Once he works that out it's game over in my experience

Can you change how he plays with his toys?

So fluffy toys, balls etc he plays with them but with you. So chasing, flirting eg hiding and searching for them but do not leave them with him to destroy.

Other games may be better than just giving toys eg hiding food in a cardboard box, keep the sides open to start with then move to closing the side, (he may destroy the box but that is fine if they do not eat them). Then put paper or t towels into the box to make it harder to find the treats. Save any plastic milk cartons and put them into the box and hide the treats between them.

Then if he is being left with toys they are chew toys eg stuffed kongs, chews etc.

Try a Boomer Ball. They are designed for zoo animals so if they can survive lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) then a dog shouldn't be able to destroy it.

Our 4 year old German shepherd bitch has destroyed every 'dog's toy and tennis ball that we have ever brought her within a few hours but we have found that if my teenage daughter gives her one of her old stuffed dogs or teddy bears then the toy becomes the dogs baby almost and although they do get nibbled eventually they are lovingly treated and carried around for months before they give up the ghost! We think it's the house/family smell on them that she likes. Have you got any of your old teddys that you could try? Might work.

@user1468105798 dc are currently fiercely protecting their cuddly toys - ages 9-12. Dpup doesn’t go upstairs! He really loves balls and walking round with them in his mouth so I’m going to look at the ones suggested here.

He’s really tried to get the stuffing out of his bed but no luck. There’s a cushion bit in the middle that he usually takes out but can’t destroy that either. He does hump it occasionally.

Have a look at the Planet Dog Tuff range as well, we have the treat dispensing version and its the only toy my dog has not yet managed to destroy

The problem I have found with these so called indestructible toys is that DDog enjoys the destruction so if he can’t they are of no interest

I tend to take the view that when I give a toy to DDog, it's his to do with as he wishes - and if he wishes to destroy them, then that's his prerogative.

On that basis, I've been known to go to charity shops and buy children's soft toys from the 50p section - just avoiding (or removing) those with hard eyes or noses. I know DDog will have a lot more fun destroying 10 x 50p soft toys than 1 x £5 dog toy!

That said, ChuckIt balls and Kongs have proved indestructible for even my ball-obsessed terrier

I also recommend Kong toys, but have also found that coffee wood, is a hit with my retriever/destructor 10 month old as he will just sit and gnaw on it for hours without seeming to make any difference to it.
