What would you expect to pay for a rescue dog. There seems to be a vast difference. Is it a red flag?

I do some work for a rescue charity. We charge for TRACES, Pet Passport and transportation - all of which comes to about £400. Feel free to dm me if you have any more questions, op.

It will vary rescue to rescue. Overseas ones cost more as they have to import dogs.

U.K.-based rescues seem to be around £150-250. Dogs Trust is £185 for an adult dog, Blue Cross is £200 for an adult and Battersea is £155 for an adult. Puppies tend to be more.

Its nor really paying its a donation and that's how I view it. Rescues are struggling. My rescue i got a few month ago was £250. He's a big dog.

My dd's rescue puppy recently cost £250 from a small local charity. She and her partner adore him.

We're about to pay £400 which includes neutering, microchip, vaccinations, passport. He also is coming with his bed, the food he's been eating, his harness and coat (but that might be the current foster person's own choice to give that to us)

Imiss2019 · 17/01/2021 00:40

RSPCA rescue was £180

barebetty · 17/01/2021 17:31

Greyhound was £150. Chipped, neutered, wormed and vaccinated. Bargain Smile

Little hound from a local rescue was £180. Again spayed, chipped etc.

Roselilly36 · 17/01/2021 17:34

I would expect to pay around £200-£300 so the charity can cover costs and continue to help re-home dogs in need.

We are adopting a dog from Romania we are paying £330 my friend just adopted from dogs trust and paid £180

Bytheriogrande · 17/01/2021 20:10

The suggested donation for our greyhound was about £200 i think, including a collar and coat. We donated about double that though because they do such an amazing job

It's not necessary a red flag but do adopt from a reputable rescue, anyone can call themselves a rescue and it can be a covert way of selling puppy mill puppies.
