The mud daddy

I saw this recommended on here and now it haunts my adds! Is it worth the money to occasionally wash a smelly dog with waemer water than the hose?
He is well trained not to go upstairs (where the showers are) and theres no way I coukd carry him.
Any alternative suggestions welcome too.

Please note he is a big swimmer so he is generally very clean. Occasionally stinks though or swims in mud so it is only occasional washes I want to subject him to.
Thank you.

We looked at them but ended up with a portable shower thing (I think it’s a hoze lock one) off Amazon which got better reviews and, for us, works well. We’re going to get an outside warm water tap fitted so we can use that instead but this is working fine at the moment.

Floralnomad · 06/01/2021 17:49

I’ve got one and I do use it for the dog occasionally and it works well , but I also use it on muddy horses legs and hooves and it works well for that .

I've got one. It does get the worst of the mud off but my dog is long haired and double coated and it doesnt really penetrate his coat. I think I'd love it for a short coated dog where the brush could get through the fur though. And it's fantastic for cleaning boots!

mamaoffourdc · 06/01/2021 19:38

We use ours every day for our 3 dogs! We love it!

I use ours a lot on our labrador who rolls in everything. It means I can wash him before we drive home if we've been away for a walk (pre-lockdown). Good for wellies too.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 06/01/2021 19:45

Absolute rubbish IME. I’ve had 2 replacement rubber rings for the hose to try to keep the pressure but they just don’t work. Waste of money and time.

chestnutmares · 06/01/2021 19:52

I got a Hozelock Portashower instead, gets better reviews on all the dog-related FB groups I'm on. It's great - good size and good pressure, and great not just for dogs but for cleaning muddy boots after a walk etc. Cheaper too.

Happytentoes · 06/01/2021 20:00

Another Hozelock fan. Easy to use, easy to transport for holidays (remember those?). 2 muddy labs here, gets the worst of it off - mud, sand, that strange seaweed smell etc.

Bloodhoundgang · 06/01/2021 22:08

Thank you all. I did try to post a picture of my smelly (but absolutely beautiful) lab but there seems to be an issue stopping me uploading. I do appreciate a dog pic myself on this forum 🤣
Hozelock seems to be a game changer. It is half the price of the mud daddy and it looks more compact. I assume it is tge 7l one folk have for dogs??
@BalladOfBarryAndFreda I have seen similar issues reported on the mud daddy Instagram pages so it had put me off a bit but those comment sections tend to attract the negatives rather than positives so I couldn't be sure.. Until now.

Thank you all again.

I have a mud daddy. I use it on both my dogs as the fields are muddy. I recommend it. I have malamutes. They have thick coats and it works great.

Iootraw1 · 14/01/2021 19:46

Love it the best thing I ever bought for my dog!

Ab0720 · 11/08/2021 19:35

We had the orange 5l mud daddy in January 2021 and it last until April 2021. We then bought the hozelock portashower and use that with the mud daddy brush.
The mud daddy brush keeps leaking though even after having a replacement brush! I’m going to buy some rubber plumber rings which I hope will stop the problem! Smile

One of these with some hot water in. Most hardware stores will sell a version of it.

Pretty much the same thing, for only £8.99

Sitdowncupoftea · 12/08/2021 14:32

I have one I thoroughly recommend one. The water also stays warm for a few hours if your on a long walk. In winter you can do the dog then your boots.

PrimalLass · 12/08/2021 15:02

Strange question but how much noise do any of these make? My pup will just about cope with being hosed but hates it when I put the spray gun on (I have one that dispenses soap). She's a retriever and loves mud more than she loves me.

LangyThorpey · 12/08/2021 15:29

Yes I have one and they’re brilliant. Not all that powerful so not sure how they would hold up against long haired dogs though. They don’t make any noise at all.

Can you tell me how you connected the mud daddy brush to your Hozelock portashower as it doesn’t fit on mine and I can’t find a nut the same size to screw it on to.
