vetsmedicover - any experience

Just sorting insurance for our cocker pup and have gotten similiar quotes for boughtbymany and petplan, both of which have come recommended, but the quote for vetsmedicover was £100 cheaper so obviously very enticing. Does anyone have any experience with them though? Did a search on MN and there were some good experiences but from almost 10 years ago!

thanks

A few things stand out for me in the policy document for Vetsmedicover - just at a quick glance, you'd want to compare these directly to the policy terms for the others you're considering.

'We provide cover for necessary medical dental treatment Up to £350 per annum; however we do not provide cover for a scale and polish,' so unless directly the result of an accident in which case you get the 6k cover, it's a bit weaselly as to whether they'd pay out beyond £350 for some other oral health conditions.

As well as the usual commercial/racing/hunting clause they specifically exclude gundogs, of which many are also pets and just work casually, which could catch people out.

They exclude claims if the injury or illness occurs in the care of a boarding kennel, dog walker, dog day care or dog groomer.

The percentage co-payment excess kicks in earlier than most Petplan policies, 10% aged 4+ rather than aged 8+, and rising to 20% by 6+

No cover for behavioural disorders

currahee thanks so much, that's really helpful. I don't think any of that would have jumped out to my uninitiated eye
