He’s coming up for 18 months, had him since he was 18 weeks.

He’s always loved his humans but he has over Christmas and last few days taken to climbing onto my lap to cuddle and sleep. Just me, used to be dp first few months, then the floor/sofa,but now me.

I’ve been taking him on Lovely varied long walks in the woods and fields so thinking he’s feeling closer to me. Grateful, I don’t know.

He’s a big boy, heavy and hot! He will push my laptop out of the way to get on me... what could be going on?

Can I just say he is adorable 🐶🐶

Any chance you could be pregnant? With both my pregnancies my girl dog (who has always been dm's lap dog) refused to leave me alone. And my male dog who had always been my shadow anyway got even worse. If anyone he didn't know came round he'd just pace in front of me. Don't know what either were planning to do as they're the size and have the temperament of teddy bears Grin

littleblackno · 30/12/2020 23:28

I have no advice as i dont have a dog but he is beautiful and i would happily have him sit on my lap!!

ABitOfAShitShow · 30/12/2020 23:28

Well isn’t he just an absolute dream! You can send him over here if you need a bit of space.

Happenchance · 30/12/2020 23:30

It could just be because the temperature had dropped so he's seeking out warmth.

Happenchance · 30/12/2020 23:31

Has dropped

Bluebird2021 · 30/12/2020 23:33

On my! Def not pregnant! Im 53. I really really hope not

Could be a temp change as last 2 evening walks Have been icy. He’s lovely, lovely temperament but so heavy, especially all relaxed and sleepy

My lab always has to be touching me or at least in the same room as me. He's my little (big) shadow and also thinks he's the size of a chihuahua! I think it's normal for them to be very cuddly, maybe just starting to outgrow their mad puppy phase?

Imiss2019 · 30/12/2020 23:47

My lurcher has taken to practically laying on top of me at night. I think it’s the drop in temperature. I’m taking him a blanket up with us tonight. As cute as it is he weighs a ton and doesn’t make for a comfortable nights sleep!

purpleme12 · 30/12/2020 23:52

Oh my god I could not be more jealous right now!
He is so so beautiful!
I just want to cuddle him!

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 30/12/2020 23:54

Need a pet nanny?????

littlealexhorne · 30/12/2020 23:54

He's so handsome, I love his neckerchief!!!

SingingSands · 31/12/2020 00:46

Oh look at that face! He just loves you soooo much!

Happytentoes · 31/12/2020 08:34

He is a stunner. He’s a lab and they are people dogs. My boy sticks to me like glue. Always has - he’s almost 10.
He is pretty good at reading moods so if a family member comes in and he thinks they are a bit glum, that’s the lap he heads for.
I have found both of mine have been extra clingy this Christmas and I think it’s just that we are around more.

makingmyway10 · 31/12/2020 09:02

@Bluebird2021 my lab girl is 18 months and has been doing the same! Just over the last two weeks, our old lab never tried it. If we are sat on the sofa she will try and climb up onto us putting her paws around our necks and cuddling us! It’s so sweet but also undesirable as we are strict with her and she is not allowed to jump or get on the furniture. She is getting heavy and we definitely don’t want a dog that jumps up on people. It is weird but so loving and it’s very hard to push her off and say no. Smile

Bluebird2021 · 31/12/2020 09:45

oh so it sounds quite normal then! i was worried it was a sign of illness or something though ggogle didnt indicate that, its just a change in behaviour so was a bit worried

he is still very puppyish in looks. and still has a yappy baby bark at times. we got him just before lockdown, saved our sanity having him!

@makingmyway10 he 'noses' my laptop out of the way, very intentional. he's always been allowed up on sofas but he doesn't sleep upstairs with us, I'm the strict one.

it seems quite dominant behaviour but today i've told him no, sternly, so he's sleeping on my feet now, still has to be touching me!

makingmyway10 · 31/12/2020 12:39
