Will your dog be getting Christmas dinner?

Just that really? Am thinking of giving mine a scaled down version of ours (minus stuffing of course). So some turkey, potatoes, carrots etc. Is this a stupid idea.

Usually he just gets a bit of turkey sprinkled over his usual dinner but being completely honest - I’ve bought too much.

I'll be giving mine a mini xmas dinner, partly as a treat and mainly as a distraction! Bit of meat and veg but without the gravy and onions. And not risking sprouts.

BiteyShark · 20/12/2020 12:05

Ours will get turkey 😁

Spidey66 · 20/12/2020 12:05

Mine did last year. I think she'll have less sprouts this year. She was farting all the way throughout Eastenders. I could barely make out Phil's rage that Sharon's baby was Keanu's and not his.

Farty Dog may sound like a craft beer but it's not pleasant, believe me.

vanillandhoney · 20/12/2020 12:07

Of course! Ours does every year Grin

He has carrots, peas, potatoes and chicken with dog friendly gravy. The cats get their own version as well!

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 20/12/2020 12:09

Ours get left over veg with their tea...

Cocolapew · 20/12/2020 12:11

I always give her dinner but I think I'll leave the sprouts out this year too..

bodgeitandscarper · 20/12/2020 12:11

Nope, don't want to risk upset tums, a bit of turkey on usual food and they'll be happy.

LightDrizzle · 20/12/2020 12:13

Mine used to get a tin of sardines in tomato paste over her normal food.
Nothing, not even Christmas dinner, came close to the excitement caused by sardines in tomato sauce.

LilyLongJohn · 20/12/2020 12:15

Yes, we never feed ours human food, with the exception for Christmas dinner

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 20/12/2020 12:25

A Christmas dinner? No. Leftovers? Cold veg and a bit of turkey, yes.

MaelyssQ · 20/12/2020 12:28

I've bought my dog a festive Chubb roll, turkey flavour with cranberries, 45p from Home Bargain Xmas Grin

We're having a 5 bird roast and I think it will be too rich for his delicate little stomach.

HarrietSchulenberg · 20/12/2020 12:43

Ours has all the plate scrapings, the leftover gravy and some good sized pieces of meat. We don't always have turkey but when we do he has the softer bits of the giblets as well. He is very happy with it.

ApolloandDaphne · 20/12/2020 12:47

My dog will get a bit of turkey and some of the skin mixed in with her normal food.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/12/2020 13:18

Ours will get the giblets from the goose, when I have used them to make stock for the gravy, and I have bought her a tin of posh dog food (pheasant and goose, no less).

We could give her a few sprouts too, but she is a labrador, and the farts would be banned under international laws on chemical weaponry!

QuestionableMouse · 20/12/2020 13:21

Mine will get some mash and turkey and probably some veg. Cats will get some turkey.

Suzi888 · 20/12/2020 13:22

Be careful, too much salt is bad. If they is it ally just have dry you could have some soft poo at best, diarrhoea at worst! Mine had IBS, I found out the hard way!Sad

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 20/12/2020 13:26

Of course he will - he's even got a special bowl for it

Will your dog be getting Christmas dinner?
Dontfuckingsaycheese · 20/12/2020 13:27

Skin. Skin. Skin!!!!??? Who gives their dog skin? I love him of course. But not that much. No no no!!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 20/12/2020 13:28

Ours will get some duck over their normal dinner. If I make dog friendly gravy, they’ll get some of that but if I don’t (red wine or onions), then I might make some gravy for them especially. They don’t get potatoes but they do get peas and carrots in their normal diet anyway, so I might throw a carrot into their bowls and a handful of peas.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 20/12/2020 13:31

Mine used to get her own lovingly prepared mini personal Christmas dinner. (No salt/onions/anything else harmful)

I had been known to take more of her meal than my own. And I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

FlappingPancakes · 20/12/2020 13:32

Ours will get turkey, carrot and pumpkin then we normally boil the bones of the turkey afterwards to make a sort of turkey stock which he has over his dry food for the next few days too.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 20/12/2020 13:33

More care! Not more of ‘her’ meal. 🤣

I’m not a kibble stealer!

Justcashnosweets · 20/12/2020 13:34

Yes, Ddog will get a mini dinner, minus the gravy as it upsets his tummy. I'd feel mean giving him is boring dog food when we are sitting down to a feast!

Wolfiefan · 20/12/2020 13:36

Nope. Allergies in one dog. Also don’t want to risk explosive tummy upsets in the giant hounds. But they are fed decent food every day of the year. Raw fed and get lamb, duck, venison etc. So don’t feel too sorry for them! Grin

userxx · 20/12/2020 13:36

Of course, turkey, carrots, roast potatoes, maybe a parsnip with a bit of gravy. He always has a Sunday dinner when we have one anyway.
