Dog wont walk in the dark suddenly

My dog suddenly wont walk in the dark for her usual night wee. I've tried taking her different ways etc but she just sits herself down and wont move. She'll only move to get back to the house. It means shes going without a wee for a good few hours overnight if she refuses to go

I’m wondering if there is a sudden sight issue which is making things difficult & scary for her?

XmasHollie · 18/12/2020 19:25

Her sight seems fine. Shes a young dog. Her eyes look clear and bright. I've asked my friend who sometimes takes her for me in the night if shes noticed anything. I'm thinking what if it's the xmas lights or something that's freaking her out

My dog is 20 months old and became scared of the dark after bonfire night last year. I just don't walk her in the dark evenings now. Have you got a garden she can nip out for wee in?

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 18/12/2020 20:07

My ddog hates wind /rain /dark /when her ddog coat flaps /any ddogs /dcats /traffic.
Right friggin diva imo!!

She wont wee in the yard at all. Maybe it is the crap weather. she doesnt seem worried but it's a long time for her to go without a wee

Has something spooked her?

XmasHollie · 18/12/2020 20:39

I dont think so. It's weird. If shes spooked will she forget about it ?

Mine won’t go for an evening walk either any more and he’s only 3. Well he’ll let me get my shoes and coat on and to the end of the cut de sac where he has a pee and then refuses to go any further.

RandomMess · 18/12/2020 20:44

It could have been a noise you couldn't hear.

A friend had to drive her DDog away from the house and then do the walks. Eventually he forgot he was scared of leaving from the house. In his case it was fireworks and he'd decided they only went off near his house!

I really think it depends - as you have no idea what (if anything) has scared her it may be harder. Have you tried driving her away from the house or bribing her with treats?
Veterinari · 18/12/2020 22:13

She may just not need to go.

My dog voluntarily goes for 12 hours overnight. If I try and force him out he just looks at me
