Is it possible I've caught a stomach bug off my dog?

My DDog is poorly, she's had soft poo and occasional vomiting for a few days now. Under vets care. I've had to clear up some nasty messes but have been wearing latex gloves. But she has come up on the sofa for cuddles while she is feeling low. Today I also have an upset stomach, which has come on suddenly. Due to Covid I've been very careful while out and about, sanitising hands etc so can't see any other reason other than my dog. Is this likely? Have I maybe dropped the ball somewhere else and got food poisoning or norovirus?

If she has something like giardia, then you can catch it from them, and its carried on their coat

I thought the same the other day, my ddog had an upset stomach for a few days and then I suddenly developed the worst diarrhoea of my life 😑

I was pretty convinced it was the same bug.

When out dog had a stomach upset I had ds3 off school poorly so he had to come to the vet with me. The vet said it was possible they both had the same bug.

Yeah, it's certainly possible. Has your dog been tested for giardia?

DaughterOfEvilReindeer · 17/12/2020 00:21

Dog's poo is being analysed as we speak, will find out tomorrow hopefully. Thanks for the responses. I've still got stomach ache but fingers crossed we both seem a bit better now. I never knew this could be a thing and will be a lot more careful in future.

Have you shared any food lately? Anything that might have given you both food poisoning?
