hello
i have a 6 month old Jack Russell, who is terrified of the hoover, shakes and pants when i am cleaning up.... he hates the family walking around the house as it makes him
very agitated.
What can i do?

I would recommend a qualified trainer to look at this situation in real life. Many are offering zoom sessions but talking to you and seeing the situation they will be able to give targetted advice and get things sorted in the best way.

A few years ago thunder shirts were considered a good option however as time has gone on and more research done many nervous dogs actually shut down when the coat is put on them. eg they are still quiet and do not move. This initially was considered that the dogs were calm but after doing studies and measuring cortisol levels it showed many of the dogs were even more stressed.

Thunder shirts can be used BUT I would only use them if recommended by a professiona behaviourist who can see the dogs behaviour wearing them

In the short term keep the puppy away from you when you are hoovering pop them in another room with a chew for distraction. Also make sure they have a safe place to settle in when there is a lot of activity in the house
