Puppy feeding advice

Hi there

I have a 10 week old Golden Retriever Puppy, he is currently on a feeding schedule of 4 meals per day of 85g Skinner's Field and Track Puppy as recommended by the breeder.

We're finding that he rarely eats all the food, we remove the bowl after 30 mins as recommended by the vet. I've taken to putting the leftovers of the 11am feed into his snuffle mat which occupies him after lunch.

He's active (and very bitey but I've read all the advice on another thread and have Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy arriving tomorrow), beginning to respond to his name and develop a recall and is booked at puppy classes from next Saturday.

From looking at him I'm guessing he's about the right shape and is probably eating what he needs. Should I be concerned he doesn't finish each meal?

My pup has never eaten the amount he ‘should’ eat and always leaves some which caused a lot of worry when he was little but he’s the perfect weight as per the condition guidelines (visible waist from above, visible tuck from the side, and ribs easily palpable) as confirmed by the vet when we went today for a bit of conjunctivitis.

As long as your pup isn’t too ribby then he might just need less food than the recommended amount. Puppies often eat more with the breeder because a bit of competition makes food so much more yummy!

Is the puppy dry food? If it is, you could always use what's left over as treats for training or in a treat dispenser ball to keep him occupied? 😊
