What age did your puppy sleep through the night?

I have a 14 week old sprocker who sleeps downstairs in his crate. Since we've had him we've always got him up 3-4 hours after he went to bed to go out for a wee in the garden.

These past few nights hes not seemed bothered about having a wee and last night he wouldnt go at all so I put him back to bed and didnt hear a peep until the morning. Is 14 weeks too young not to be getting up in the night with him?

Just interested in experiences as everything I've read suggests 16 weeks is the earliest they will sleep all night and it took my parents two springers even longer than that.

All dogs are different - if he can sleep through now, then I would just make the most of it Grin

We got ours at 12 weeks and he did occasionally sleep through at 14 weeks, though it was probably more like 20 weeks when it happened on a regular basis.

Our lab slept through the night from 8 weeks. Only a couple of times has he wanted to go out earlier than normal in the mornings (he's now 20 weeks).

Our previous lab was the complete opposite. He wouldn't sleep on his own till he was 4 months old and had night time toilet breaks probably till about 5 months. It was exhausting!

My 14 week old puppy went from 9pm last night until 6am.... she sleeps in our room so asks to go out at that time as that is when we usually get up. We usually let her out and give her her breakfast as normal on the weekend at 6am... she went back to sleep until 9 am 😀.

Ours slept through from when we got him at 10 weeks but we cheated and put puppy pads in his pen. He stopped waking to use them from around 5 months.

Ours slept through from about 12 weeks. We decided to see what happened if we didn't get up in the night and he never barked to go out or had an accident.

About 11 weeks. For about 10 days we had been waking her for a wee when we naturally woke for our own wee, which was better than being woken. She seemed reluctant to wee when we woke her so we tried without and she went through to 5:50am. Our alarm goes off at 6am so this is fine by us. She now is generally still asleep when the alarm goes.

From the day we brought them home at 8.5 weeks.

My lab was up every 2 hours at 8-10 weeks old, gradually getting more time between outings. It took her till 5-6 months to sleep through. Even now at 15 months she will go to bed between 10.30 and midnight and may cry in the mornings at about 5am to go out. She's not all bad though!

We have an 11 week old sprocker and in the past week she often goes from 21:30/22:00 till about 05:30 but we struggle to get her back to bed after that

Girlintheframe · 14/12/2020 06:19

Ours slept through from 10 weeks

DragonMamma · 14/12/2020 06:23

From when we got her really - 10 weeks - she sleeps in with us and is a proper sloth even though she’s not a lazy breed (cockerpoo). Sometimes she’ll get up at 7am for a wee abs then demand to go back to bed. She knows how to endear herself to us, that’s for sure! 😍

FrangipaniBlue · 14/12/2020 06:28

Both of ours from around 12/13 weeks.

From the first day I got him at 11 weeks. The breeder had crate trained him and didn't let them out during the night so he had just never got used to that. He would take himself off to his crate at about six pm, I'd take him to the garden at about 11 and that was it till morning. I was very lucky with him.
