Not got dog yet but have just been approved by the rescue and matched with a white long haired fluffy cross breed (we've had the first meeting and it went well) would love a name before we meet again.
Only requisit is a name that it is or can be shortened to one syllable.

Fog - white and fluffy 😊 (also short hand for fkg dog when it's naughty?🤣)

Good luck with your new fur baby 💐

Newfluff · 04/12/2020 12:02

Grin I like that, especially the short hand!

It is advised to have a two syllable name for dogs, easier for them to respond to at distance. So Snowball in the park & Snow at home?

BeepBoopBop · 04/12/2020 12:29

Or slightly Welsh sounding Myfog and Fog at home?

I grew up on a sheep farm and collies always had a short name (wyn, Tam, Glyn etc) as it was recommended that dogs only listen to the first syllable, I will have a look into it as was only going on what I'd been told as a child.

I was told 2 syllables for the name as most commands are one syllable - sit, stay, down, here, come, paw etc

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 05/12/2020 14:18

Foggy as full name and fog for short?

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 05/12/2020 17:44

Our pup's breeder recommended a hard consonant in the name somewhere, as being easier for the dog to hear.

One-syllable dogs' names I have encountered:
Gyp
Bear (perhaps not great for your fluffball!)
Moon
Jazz
Fly
Spot
Lin

Need a photo really, get two then call them Widdle and Puke

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 06/12/2020 17:43

Wasn't that Gerald Durrell?

Funf · 07/12/2020 07:16
