My girl is being spayed today...

She's such a drama queen that I'm dreading the next few days!
Hoping they can do laporoscopic spay but it depends on her anatomy apparently.
Given that she cries hysterically if she sees nail clippers and limped dramatically when I had to cover a sore on her leg... I don't think she is going to take a collar or vest well!!!! Grin

Any tips for afterwards? Laporo should only be a day or so of rest but if it's full spay.. I have no idea how I'm going to keep her rested.. she's 18m old and very active! (had to be spayed tho.. horrific 2nd season where she became recactive and so unhappy)

Get the vet to give you the dog 'babygro' rather than the cone of shame head gear. So much more comfortable for the dog and easier for you to manage their recovery.

I hope it all goes well and she'll be running around again in no time Smile

I slept downstairs with our dog on a mattress after his op. I was worried he’d split his stitches because our bed is really high off the ground. I also barricaded the sofas off. Although he still managed to leap over the back of one sofa. 🙄
He had some chicken and rice for his dinner as per the advice from our lovely vet nurse. 10 days of lead only walks were a pain because he was back to his normal self the next day. Our dog is like yours and is very active. I did more brain games with him to stop him going crackers. I hope her op went well and they managed to do the less invasive type.

She's home, cried and fell asleep :(
I've taken tomorrow off (my son usually looks after her on thursdays but he has Aspergers and will panic if she cries) and I'll sleep on the sofa tonight to be by her. I've never seen her so still.. she hasn't had food or drink today and she's out cold.

I'm glad it's done but I feel sorrry for her in her silly body suit. She will undoubtedly lick her shaved paw raw when she wakes too, as she's done that before .

I swear I feel worse than when my kid had an op !!!

Awww bless her. Our dog looked very sorry for himself the day he was neutered. He was so groggy and quiet. The next day it was like nothing had happened. I think the worst thing is they can’t tell you when it hurts or feels better. I ask my kids to rate their pain out of 10 to give me an idea of severity. Can’t do that with a dog. Also can’t explain to them what’s going on. DH didn’t want to neuter him, so when I brought him home I felt terrible. Give her lots of cuddles.
