My dog stinks!

What is the best spray/ shampoo to get rid of stench? We used 'Fox Poo' shampoo and 'Stink Bomb' spray but she still smells. She ate some horse 💩 this morning which is probably what she smells of and despite two washes and spray, she still stinks.
What is the best shampoo/ spray to use on her for masking a very bad smell?

I find the best thing is to wash it out with soda water first, then shampoo it (can keep soda water in the car for walks away from home to save a stinky journey!)

By soda water, do you mean fizzy water? Do you just put it through the dog's hair?

Tomato ketchup. Honestly. Then puppy shampoo afterwards. A proper rinse off and make sure she gets dried properly too.

Tomato ketchup does neutralise smell. The best shampoo i found was baby powder scented dog shampoo. Mine roll in crap on a daily basis. Invest in a mud daddy to wash him.

PurpleMustang · 02/12/2020 12:49

Heinz tomato ketchup

@Sitdowncupoftea are those mud daddy things worth it then? Have been thinking about investing in one for out two mutts, but DH is a little sceptical. Presently have to lug them both upstairs to the bathroom.

If she ate it its her breath! Brush them:)

I wash mine down at the woods before I bring them in the house or on the drive. Then I dry them off so they are clean before they come in the house. I have one dog that rolls in poo every kind even dog poo or dead animals. To me they are worth it. I dont want the mud or stink in my house. Plus they are big dogs too heavy and big to put in the bath. I put warm water in though not cold. It stays warm a couple of hours. You probably could get cheaper versions if you google.

Soda water that they sell in Tesco for about 40p a bottle, not sure if it's the same as just carbonated water. I've rinsed Fox poo off my dog with it when we've been out and it's definitely got the worst of the stink out. I'm sure soda water has added minerals making it slightly salty, maybe that's what breaks down the smell 🤷🏼‍♀️

We have to wash all around our dogs mouth, as usually he's eaten something pungent........ then rolled in it for good measure. We use the fox poo shampoo.

And check their ears....... we've got two spaniels and that's the main culprits of most whiffs that aren't of the rolled in variety.

Wash collar, harness & leads.

No. 1 with the clippers?
^^

ProfessorLayton1 · 04/12/2020 20:17

What do you do with Tomato ketchup?

Suzi888 · 04/12/2020 20:20

Tomato sauce on the dog. Wash everything else on at least a 60c wash. Personally I’d chuck it all away (not the dog) Grin
